Bottom line in all this is Manning did not want to go through Brady. I don't believe it has anything to do with ownership team ect. Nfc West and Afc west are for the taking. Lol at any1 that thinks Manning is saying look at the way Az works as a franchise they are great. Manning had some ideas where he wanted to play. The Fins were not high on that list and the Dolphins execs pulled the best card they had to at least give it a shot. I would have played it the same way.

I don't ever remember the team making a statement about how they were close to signing Manning. If I recall correctly it was the media and so called "sources" that kept saying we were still in it.

Why is everyone blaming the media for stirring up Manning to Miami rumors? It makes sense in a vacuum. The situation is ideal for him. A major market and historic team. A number one receiver (well till recently). Playmaking RB. An offensive minded coach. Potentially strong D. He has a home down here. Enough money (till recently). It makes sense unless he has zero faith in this organization which seems obvious considering he wouldn't bother visiting with the team. It's pretty shocking that we're not in it.

The problem with Ross is he's learning on the job. He doesn't realize the damage he's causing, he thinks everything he is doing is for the better of the team..Now Ireland, that's a different story, that jackass has been around long enough to know, I supported him for the last few years but now I finally see him for what he is.....An egotistical & mediocre glorified scout, nothing more. Ross unfortunately is his enabler, Ireland has done nothing in his career to warrant him being a pompous ass. That is Ross' biggest fault, not realizing the reputation the team has garnered at the hands of Ireland. I kinda feel sorry for Ross, contrary to popular belief he does care for this team and is not afraid to spend his money. What this really should show is.........

Miami really should start using Marino in their recruiting. Much like Bills do with Thurman, Kelly and Reed.

No state tax and South Beach obviously are not enough.

But shows the power of Marino if Manning did not want to interview and after talking with Dan if I was your front office I would take that and start using him more often.

My only thought is that if Manning never really wanted to play for us in the first place then how did ownership "drop the ball" when they never obviousy had a real shot at him in the first place. They did what they could with a guy that never wanted to be here. What are they supposed to do, kidnap him? I think that would have been the only possible way to get him here and keep him here.

Sports media is just noise and should always be ignored. I'd trust a groundhog's shadow before any of those clueless idiots. The problem here is this idea that Miami was never an option. There's no reason for it not to have been an option unless there's something repellent about the organization. The situation should have made us a frontrunner.

Well I think you are over-estimating us compared to other teams. I was basing my optimism because of the media's almost 100% aggreement that we were the favorites because I assumed it was based on something factual. ( now we find out it was based on pure speculation)

We didn't have that great of a defense, very middle of the pack, even with BMarshall our receivers were nothing to write home about, offensive line porous,rookie coach without connections to Peyton , not enough cap space, etc. . .We are also in one of hte toughest divisions in football. We had some pros too, like the weather, he lives down here part-time, etc.. Certainly not enough in retrospect to even come close to overcoming the cons.

I don't see Den or Ten offering anything from a team talent perspective that we didn't have. In fact, I'm shocked Denver is such a strong option. What with the Tebow situation and their talent level being wildly overrated. Neither of those teams have any weapons in the passing game. Below average D's. I just don't see the appeal aside from Peyton's relationships with people in the organizations. But from a team perspective surrounding Peyton with BMarsh, Bush, Long, Pouncey gave us an edge. This may just come down to a matter of opinion between us as I seem to view the situation more favorably than you do.

You have to wonder why he wouldn't even consider playing here. I mean, I'm sure we could outbid everybody else, he obviously likes the city, Philbin seems like a low key guy, I don't think him or anybody else on the coaching staff is scaring Manning off so whats the problem? He's either afraid to play in the AFC East or he doesn't like somebody in our FO.

If Manning doesn't want to be here we just have to accept it and move on. There seems to be a perception around the NFL to avoid Miami, and nothing is going to change that until we start winning. Everyone keeps talking about Ross trying to make a "big splash" but with the celebrity owners and questionable front office personnel, players, coaches and others are choosing to go elsewhere.
