Marino had to beg Manning to interview with Dolphins

Now it's being called "researching" all his options? Really? The naiveté of fans never ceases to amaze me. Peyton doesn't want money just the best fit, yeah whatever. The best fit will probably be where he makes the most money and has the best chance to win. We couldn't even offer him the most money because of cap issues, you don't think that hamstrung us?

stop riding this guys jockstrap like he's some kind of angel, I respect him as a competitor because he's a ferocious competitor on and off the field. He's going to get the best deal plain and simple. ( like he should) He's just like any other free agent looking for the best deal. he just has Governor's calling him. . .

It is all about the fit and competing guys like Dungy and Polian have said that from the day he was released! Dungy even went as far to say it won't be about the money for Peyton it has never been about the money to him and yeah being from the Tampa area i believe Tony Dungy! He is a straight shooter and honest. Immediately after his Indy presser on camera Manning said he was interested in the Dolphins he didn't mention another team. So something happened to tarnish us in his view. Espn reported Manning made 174 mil in contracts from the Colts and easily 2 if not 3 times that in endorsements, he doesn't need more. It is obvious he its deciding which team can compete and not taj his legacy and that isn't the Jeff Ireland lead Miami Dolphins!

Dysfunction is the word, but based on that, I am not sold that Philbin is a quality head coach anyway.

He does not command any presence at all.

DOLFAN1:

and you know philbin personally? you have spoken with him, hung out, been in football meetings with him, watched him teach and interact with players?

NO, you havnt. so how do YOU come up with this "no presence" nonsense when EVERYONE ELSE who actually knows him, has coached with him, hung out with him, interviewed him, met with him, played for him says JUST THE OPPOSITE!! that he is VERY impressive and commands a confident PRESENCE!!

what is it that you possess, not even knowing or speaking to the man, that trumps all these people in the biz who DO know him?

these are the kinds of statements that really leave me scratching my head. do you not read articles on the sports sites? listen to the sports casters on nfl.com and or espn? read the sentinel or herald? how do you guys come up with COMPLETE OPPOSITE statements like this? or, is it just blind bitterness over not landing a coach YOU wanted?

THE MARINO ISSUE: god, will you guys please let that subject go? the people who were involved and with the finz when marino retired are GONE!! what next, the finz are stupid, they let larry czonka go to canada ball. same with joe theisman. there all inept idiots!! we will win no games this year!!

dan marino was three years late retiring. i have every kind of marino collectable known to man. he is and always will be my fav dolphin and qb. the big mistake the team made was not standing up to marino and bowing to fan pressure and their wrath and not getting him to retire a couple years before. jj wanted to but caved because he was a new coach for the team and already in burn out mode.

marino had 2 offers when WANSTEDT let danny go. both were MUCH better teams than miami and a qb from the show, the vikings and pittsburgh [his home team and boyhood fav franchise who he fantasized about playing with well into his adulthood and career].

he turned BOTH down. why? because IT WAS OVER!! his leggs couldnt do it anymore. his achillies attrophied bad in his cast after his injury and surgery and it progressivly got worse up to the point he couldnt push off with that foot any longer and balls started getting picked like migrants farm workers in a strawberry field!!

but everyone wants to blame jj and wanny and the front office, the cheer leaders, george w.bush, etc....

there sin was letting him rot in front of us and end his career in embarrassment on national tv with load of int's and a 70 point woopin!! the man got a statue in front of the stadium and the FRONT SPOT on the ring of honor. his jersey retired. huge stadium party, etc...... but the thing they should have done is sucked it up and told him it was over and to not go out throwing ints all over the field. going out with dignity, expecially after the sting of no championship wins.

GET OVER THIS BITTER, UNWARRENTED MARINO THING!! he is long gone and so are ALL the people involved. these finz are NOT those finz.

**** Peyton Manning and his Red Neck family

DING DING DING!!!!

we have REDICULOUS post of the year folks, right here. hats off to DAMAN13 for providing this jewel.

you wouldnt know what a REDNECK was if one walked up and slapped you on your little pointy head.

if you actually KNEW what a REDNECK REALLY IS, you wouldnt use it in that context at all.

or, maybe you still would. some folks ARE just hopeless and unable to be educated.

rednecks come in ALL colors, all religions, all nationalities in all u.s states!! they have NOTHING to do with racism or silly jokes that people like JEFF FOXWORTHY make money from.

either way, a rediculous post, juevenile in nature and an undeserving cheap shot at a stand up guy like peyton manning AND his family. and i am sure, it was racist in nature.

congrats on the win though!!

REDNECK: 2 B 1- ASK 1.

Last week that Marino said he didn’t plan to call Manning but that Dolphins owner Stephen Ross might ask Marino to make the call, and it turns out that’s exactly what happened: Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post reports that in the first few days after the Colts cut Manning, the Dolphins grew frustrated because they hadn’t reached Manning directly and hadn’t even been able to get his agent to agree to a meeting. That’s when they asked Marino to call Manning personally, and it was only after the two of them talked that Manning agreed to meet with the Dolphins on Monday. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...st-marino-just-to-get-a-meeting-with-manning/

Dungy and Polian are both full of **** and blowing hot air up your ass and you know it. I don't recall Manning saying he was interested in coming to Miami, you're making that **** up. he never mentioned he was interested in any team that I can remember,

I remember him saying that this was all new to him and he didn't have a clue, when the hell did he say he was interested in Miami?

If Manning doesn't care for the money I'm sure he will play for the league minimum then right? Lets see what his contract is going to be then you can convince yourself by some ****ed up logic that it's not about the money. Whatever. . .

Read Darlingtons article and you'll see how wrong this report is, as many players reached out to Manning just like with every other team, with even the Governor of Tennessee reaching out to Manning. With your logic you can say if Manning signed with Tenn that it was the Governor who secured the deal, complete nonsense. Again the media fabricating an angle to bash the Dolphins, and you guys are all in, wake up!

This report is bullsh!t!!!

If we had to beg Manning to talk then why did he wait til now to tell us that he wasn't interested. He could have just blown us off like the other teams. This is just a bunch of crap written to make headlines and get traffic. Only morons believe this junk.

Wow, This Regime had us all believing we had a shot.... ROSS THE OVERHAUL STARTS AND ENDS WITH IRELAND.
I don't think the regime did anything to get you believing, you just wanted too. I never heard any concrete things out of our staff.

The level of denial in this thread is hilariously awesome.

I can only imagine this is what Tom Brady must have been like after losing his second Superbowl to Eli Manning. "It never happened! Its all a lie! Everyone is so gullible! Just leave it alone!"

There is a video and link on this site you can do the leg work for yourself! Manning granted one interview leaving the Colts facility it was to a local reporter he was close to since he was a rookie. When ask where he would like to play he said he didn't know who was interested in him, but a team that stood out was the Miami Dolphins they had studs like Bush and Marshall and need a Qb.

As far as Dungy goes no the guy doesn't blow smoke he never has.
