The first memories I have of football are of the dolphins. I became a big fan as I watched Marino light it up. I loved watching games with him as the comeback king. We were never out of the game no matter what the score, as long as he was engineering the comeback. I feel like we were the most fortunate fans in all of sports to have him on OUR team! We watched every week.

What were your reasons for becoming a fins fan? Who or what hooked you in?

just curious to see why we are here...

When I first saw Ace Ventura Pet Detective and it featured Dan Marino, I started to to become a fan. Jim Carey being a Canadian actor and all, I was instantly excited about the Dolphins. I have been a fan ever since and my level of interest has increased every year. Even after last year.

It was 1970, I was 7 going on 8 and becoming a football fan and the Dolphins were the only team in my native state of Florida.

I couldn't have created a better next 4 years to spoil me forever, posters of Larry Csonka and Bob Griese on my wall.

To top it off, My family moved for one year 1973-1974 to Boone, NC during the Dolphins second superbowl winning year and in my 6th grade class was the little sister of Bob Matheson(number 53 of the famous 53 defense).

I was a freshman in high school and Florida had no team, 1st few years not much fun, 'til The Don came!!

I don't know if I'd say he was *the* reason I became a fan, but he was a big part of it, for sure.

I became a fan in 1970 when Shula came to the team but Dan Marino made it extra special to be one!

Dude, take no offense at this, but if going to three straight Superbowls, going 32-2 over two consecutive seasons, going undefeated(the only team in history to do it) was not extra special.........you have issues.

absolutely. moved to america from the netherlands, first game was fins at jets, couldnt get my eyes off number 13.

the man made me love football. i have never gotten more joy out of watching an athlete than i did watching dan.

as weird as it is, its rangers, mets, knicks, dolphins for me....

the reason

i first became a fan of the dolphins when i learned that i was related to a former dolphin player. my mom told me that her cousin bill stanfill played for the dolphins. of course that got me interested on a casual basis. i was still very young then. when i started understanding the game it was dan marino that cemented my as a dolphin for life.

Larry Csonka did it for me. Its 1971-72 middle Tennessee....small town...1 factory town....I watch a game with my dad and see this he stud run the ball and its taking 2-5 players to get him down anytime he gets the ball. I had phins stickers on my lunch box in 4th grade.

I became a fan in the 70's. I remember when they picked Dan up. I couldn't figure out why(laughing now). David Woodly had just taken them to the Super Bowl. I didn't really think they needed a qb at that time. Funny now.

Christmas day legendary game 1970 / 3rd Quarter when my Dad called me in to watch.

[Edit] Oooops... That would be 1971.
