Marino thinks SFLS

Marino has a huge ego. His biggest nightmare is Luck becoming a south florida icon and everyone forgetting about marino.

Because every where else in North America Marino is laughed at as a loser who never won a super bowl. Only in south florida does Marino have a good reputation and he's scared that Andrew Luck will make Marino a forgotten man in south florida when Luck wins multiple super bowls as a Dolphin.

Screw Marino. He had 17 years of chances and he didn't deliver when it was needed most... He looked piss poor in too many playoff games to remember. His playoff numbers after his first 3 years were awful. Getting shut out in 2nd halves of very important playoff games. INT after INT after INT,, after stupid pass after stupid pass after stupid pass,, after stupid decision after stupid decision after stupid decision,. Look at Marino's playoff games over his final 15 years and it was mediocre performances at best,, for the most part (with many embarrassing playoff performances thrown in there).

He had his chances and failed time and time and time again. Time for Luck

In my 9 years on internet boards, I don't think I have ever seen such a ludicrous post (Well, maybe. There were some doozies about chipmunks and a guy dATiNg hiS SiSTEr at one point, but this is right up there with those.

Brother, I mean this in all due respect.
Research this before you go off half-****ed.
Did Dan Marino personally do something to you?

I have friends that are fans of every team in the league, and have lived in 4 cities that have major franchises not named Miami and each and every I go and everybody I talk to realizes that Marino did more than just about any other QB to ever play the game.

I have to ask the same question I have to keep asking. Have you ever seen Andrew Luck play? Did you ever see Dan Marino play?

These are serious questions, cause if you can answer yes to one, then you are just pissed at Dan about something.
If you can answer yes to both, and still post this drivel, you need to seek professional help.

If you answer no to both, come back after you have actually spent a little time learning WTF your typing about.

My guess, considering your longevity here, and most of your posts, you are actually a Jests fan acting like your not...but that's just my guess. We have another phrase for posters like that.

Dan was a great QB and great for south Florida in general. But, he will not say the obvious truth...that the Fins must tank this season to get a shot at one of the top QB's coming out next year. Plus another Draft of top picks to fill in the holes on this team.
Losing will ensure that the coaching staff gets fired too...he would never endorse this. Parcells/Sparano/Ireland are done.
I had high hopes for this season. Now I am setting my eyes on next year with renewed optimism with and different QB and staff. I hope it works out.
I love Dan and I respect where he is speaking from, but frankly he is the wrong person to ask.

Nice job calling him out Confessor. The guy has obviously never met Dan or saw him play.

Just askin......:rolleyes2:

I am free to give an honest assessment of the team. I am probably wrong more than half the time. My opinions are from a casual fan Monday morning QB that I am..:chuckle:
Dan has to speak PC because of his ties and position in the media. He usually is very careful with his words. He will never endorse losing for any reason...even if there is a pot of gold at the end of the losing.

Sure, but he has also spent over half his life in a locker-room, he was a VERY good locker room guy, and I believe he still bleeds Aqua and Orange.

Something I have leaned towards since hearing his SFL thing is, the losers mentaliity is a hard one to shake once it sets in. More than just a #1 pick away.

I agree with you. Once a franchise get labeled as a loser, and loses most or all of its games, the players forget how to win. They play the game "not to lose timid" instead of " lets go get them with confidence and win".
I am really on the fence with this SFL mindset. I want the team to win, yet I see that winning a couple of games yet still finishing with a poor record will bump us down in the draft order. We miss drafting the player who could be a NFL HOF player and the corner stone for the next 15 years. Do I want instant gratification now, or just tolerate this season and hope that we finally get a super star.
Definitely a conundrum.

I have yet another cog to that Kernundrum.

How does ANYBODY know that Andrew Luck is the next coming? You've been in the game long enough to know that "The next coming" seems to come out each and every year.
Go study QB's taken #1 overall and see exactly what the path ahead would dictate.

I do share this kernundrum, just nothing is important enough for me to lose sight of what is directly in front of this team, and that is to win this Monday Night.
After that, we are only 1/2 game behind the Jests 1/4 of the way into the season.

If you go look at the very top QB's currently in the NFL, 1, perhaps 2 have been picked #1 overall. Especially if you look at those that have won the Superbowl over the last? 3 decades, it shows we, as fans, as well as the team in general, is much better focusing on how to win now, and let other things fall where they might

Once again, its not easy being a devote Dolphins fan here in the heart of Cowgirl land while they are losing, but it is MUCH tougher being part of a fanbase that actully hopes it's team loses. Not even fair-weathered, MYOPIC Cowpatty fans wish that upon their team.

Most of the fans down here in south Florida have not known a winning team. Since I am older(50) and remember the Shula years 70's, 80's and early 90's, I do not feel the desperation that some fans down here feel because I experienced such a sustained level of winning.
The younger fans seem to have no patience, yet I can agree with them that the leadership of this franchise is extremely disappointing. The Detroit's, Buffalo's, and other teams have turned their franchises around fairly quickly with coaching staffs that were unknowns or after thoughts. We just cannot get things right and give them 5 years to prove themselves anymore.
It takes many years with the right guys at the helm to build a winner. We just do not have the patience.
Regarding the QB's, yeah it is a crap shoot. No guarantees that Luck won't be Ryan Leaf. Imagine sucking for Luck and he turns out to be Ryan Leaf?

Why do people think it's noteworthy when players, coaches, and media that are associated with the Dolphins refuse to endorse SFL. These guys are getting directly asked about it, and they have nothing to gain by publicly endorsing losing. It's not a reflection of what they think its best for the Dolphins franchise. No matter what they think its not in their best interest to say yeah I think the Dolphins should just lose. We as fans can say that because we won't have our mentality questioned for the rest of our lives.

And as far a Dolphins media members speaking out against it. These guys make their money off of how closely you follow the current team. The public isn't going to read and listen to a full years worth of Luck pieces, so why would they want the public to just completely write off this season. You are going to get a lot more callers talking about how we can screw up the Jets season next week than talking about Luck for the millionth time.

All these people have nothing to gain by saying SFL is a good way of thinking. Just have a little perspective on where they are coming from. We can all think for ouselves and we don't need Marino's soundbites to do it for us.

Well, that's the biggest thing right there!!!

In another thread, I just posted a list of QB's that were regarded as "Can't miss saviors", and it is extremely disappointing who is on that list.

I like Luck, but I have seen and liked LOTS of prospects coming out for the last 35 years. Nothing new. I think there are a handfull of QB's coming out this year, more than the last couple of years for certain, that could really prove to be the steal of the draft, ala Marino, Rodgers and Brady.

What slays me are those that don't know the first damn thing about Luck, have never seen him play, don't even know who he plays for, but are still hoping our team loses just cause that's what the burning masses say.

It's very scary.

Let's not count on us stealing in the draft. The last player the Phins "stole" and turned to be one helluva player is #54. Not bad for a round 5 player. However with the way we have been trash and clearly in dire need of a QB since Dan we need to seal in the draft and not try to steal in the draft. This comment was also posted in another thread so to merge or not to? I say merge.

Generally, people(fans) are becoming sheeple. They rely on others to do their homework and just follow along.
It is just the power of internet, twitter, and all the other instantaneous sources of news.
Waves of opinion are created and they spread out like a virus, infecting the simple minded I suppose.(I'm guilty too). Speculation becomes fact, fact becomes fiction...everything can be turned upside down at times.
Luck may be great in college, but you just never know until he starts playing in the NFL for real.
I think he has the talent based upon what I have seen, but I want to look at the other QB options as well.

Well, you touched on what bothers me more than anything else. The laziness of sheeple personified.

The info is out there. People can spend the time. Stanford is on TV pretty much every single weekend.....we are indeed turning into a lazy society of sheeple ready for instant gratification, but unwilling to do ANY work to warrant it.

EDIT: I have seen LOTS of Andrew Luck, and he does look pretty good...against Pac10 defenses, which like when I used to wtch Randy Johnson, while on rehab pitch against 21 year old AAA players in Tucson.

There are a handful of QB's I would be watching 24/7 if I were our FO. Kid at Oklahoma is one of my top 3 favorites. Kid at Baylor MAYBE, cept very tough by the type of Offense they run and talent level, Barkley is vastly over-rated IMHO. Foles is a passer nothing more...at this point....but once again, I would have top-tier talent evaluators watching all these kids and more starting about 2 months ago.

In the end, Andrew Luck has like a 1/50 chance of being the next great thing. Hardly something to base an entire season on IMHO

What should he say??? Yeah I think the fins should lose every game from here on out so they can land this kid and they start to win. Do you know that backlash that would bring. CMON PEOPLE
