Turn it loose.
That's the advice NFL Hall of Famer Dan Marino has for current Miami Dolphins QB Chad Henne going into a do-or-die season.
"He was kind of in charge during the offseason," said Marino, who still keeps a close eye on his old team. "I think that's going to help him a lot. Sometimes coaches can over-coach."
The addition of Reggie Bush and extended work with wide receiver Brandon Marshall should help Henne take the next step, but ultimately, the key to Henne's success lies in his head, Marino said.
"He needs to play the kind of football where he's not worried about making mistakes," he said. "I would just come out and turn it loose. Just let it go."

If only henna would just start lighting up the league and be the 2nd best qb this franchise has ever seen behind Marino.. Hmm wishful thinking..

Chad has the arm and ability. But you just can not duplicate the fire that burned inside of Dan.

Raise your hand if you would love to have Dan involved in the Miami organization somehow!!!

No! Bad advice for Henne. Don't turn it loose. That's been his problem so far. Audible if needed and get us into the right play. Live to see another down and distance at all cost. Doing this will show maturity.

I love Marino but bad advice at this stage of Henne's development.

I wasn't very excited when I heard we got Cleveland's OC during the offseason but every time I think that we got rid of Henning I have to believe things will have to be better.

Can you imagine how Dan Marino would reacted to Dan Henning as an OC?

I couldn't agree with you less!

I think Dan wants a repeat of the 1994 opening day game against NE....or at least Henne to perform as he did in that game with only one ankle.

I hope Henne does it. 473 yards, 5 TDs - 1 INT. Yeah, I'll take that.

I'm sure those werent the exact words Marino had for henne. That may be the way the media interprented it but I'm sure they're had to be more details or what not to what Marino told him. I can't imagine it being a 10 second convo where marinos like "chad let it loose" and henne replys "ok Dan"

Henne does not have the anticipation, timing, and recognition to take many chances. Great arm but hasn't developed that quick timing part of the game.
