Marino to withdraw lawsuit

Staying on your offtopic, I like JT for a meaningful role in the org chart considerably more. He has way more substance.

Marino can be a strange bird. He took a job in the organization and then changed his mind. He was a named litigant and then changed his mind. He had that kid out of wedlock. Now he wants to be in the organization again, but he's not shown any inclination to be type to study film, go beat the bushes for players, etc, or learn business.

It's like he just wants to cruise around "being Danny." That's fine, if that's what you want to do. Be a pitch man, and just be a rich guy walking around life being on permanent scholarship playing golf and the like. But, then don't expect to be a meaningful front office guy. There is serious stuff going on in there, with serious professionals who are either football professionals or business professionals, who don't have time for people who are in the way cruising around in their letter jackets. No way should Danny be given any meaningful role. He can be given a role where he gets to take people out to Joe's Stone Crab where his "coolness" can be used as a recruiter.

We don't really need a guy who is in the organization one minute and out the next, in a lawsuit one minute, and out the next, a guy who isn't going to do film study, etc

“Within the last year I authorized a claim to be filed on my behalf just in case I needed future medical coverage to protect me and my family in the event I later suffered from effects of head trauma,” Marino said, via Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald. “In so doing I did not realize I would be automatically listed as a plaintiff in a lawsuit against the NFL. I have made the decision it is not necessary for me to be part of any claims or this lawsuit and therefore I am withdrawing as a plaintiff effective immediately. I am sympathetic to other players who are seeking relief who may have suffered head injuries.”

Funny how the story makes more sense when you have all the facts. Pretty smart decision all the way around on Dan's part if you ask me.

Wow! That is about as well-worded an indictment as I've ever seen around here regarding Dan Marino. I hope it isn't as true as it seems, but if it is, man, you can't say it better than this paragraph. This is the ultimate Take-Down. Like I said, I just hope it isn't more than 50% true of our beloved Danno.

Yeah, sorry Danno, but this does not look good for you. It sounds like you're making a shallow PR decision and selling out your fellow NFL brothers. I'm not impressed.

Read the actual complaint and legal documents. The players were lied to about long term effects. I can't believe people would side with a giant corporation that lied to its employees over people with brain injuries, some so bad that shot themselves in the chest!

Legally, that's in question, morally, it's not.

You play football or you don't.
You are a football player, or you aren't.

There is no grey. It's black and white. When you choose to
enter the arena, you don't get to enjoy the rewards of it, and
then, turn around and ask for more when that arena ****s out
your peers.

Well that's a pretty authoritarian way to put it. Thankfully, you're not in charge. Teams don't get to lie to players about the effects of concussions because they want them to stay in games and then not have to pay for the health consequences. Players accept that they may be injured physically, but at the time they did not know about the science on concussions. When the NFL learned about it, they concealed it. That is what the lawsuit alleges, and if true, its reprehensible.
