I know it's hard to compare because of systems, playing era, and teammates, but who would you take at this time of Manning's career, Marino or Manning? Who had the better options at receiver? Does anybody think Peyton will take out anymore of Marino's records. Sucked watching him take the single season TD record from Dan. I'll go with Danny boy, quicker release, more pure instinct and s@#!, F*#@ the Colts!!!!!!!!!!!
enigmatics go easy on me man!!

Peytons definitly got the better surrounding. People forget that Edge was only 100 yards or so from winning the rushing title as well. Marino NEVER had a running back the caliber of edgerrin james. Marino did a lot more by himself, sure he had the marks brothers, but he didn't have a running game ever. Not once in his entire career. I'd take marino, because he did way more by himself.

(you give marino Marvin Harrison, edgerrin james, reggie wayne, brandon stokley, dallas clark, Marcus pollard, and that O-line, i promise you he throws almost 60 td's in a season)

i cant look at this objectively, because i cant stand everything about manning. i guess the one clear cut thing i can add pro dan, would be the fact that imo manning isnt a true leader...maybe when his offense gets in the endzone vs the pats in the playoffs ill feel differently. i know its just the homer in me speaking but manning will never be better than dan

When all is said and done, is there any doubt that Manning will have many of Marinos records?

I know Dan is your boy, but if Manning breaks a few more, and maybe wins a Superbowl, he'll have to get the nod. At least from the rest of the country.

ClaytonandDuper, I love that picture man. I'll take Dan any day also , your right about the natural leader in Dan. The thing I miss in QB's nowadays is the lack of emotion or intensity like Dan had!!!!! Can you imagine Terrel Owens going off on Marino on the sideline like he did to McNabb this year or in the press?....Marino was the man and yeah with all that Peyton had your right Marino may have thrown for 500 td's in his career with that balance.

oh i forgot that jim kelly brought all those super bowl wins to buffalo. lol ofcoarse some bills fan is gonna come say hed rather take manning if PEYTONS TEAM wins the super bowl.(THIS IS A TEAM GAME) Manning isnt comparable to Marino strictly because manning is surrounded by pro bowl talent. When Manning gets released and signs with the Texans and brings them to the super bowl his first year with them then ill start giving Peyton a lil more respect. Hes by far the best QB in the NFL right now espeicially pocket QB, however hes given way too much credit for getting drafted onto a team which has talent like Marvin, Edger, Pollard, and that monsterous Oline. Lets not forget those wimpy colts bugged out of our division! You cant say if Indi still had to play AFC East teams twice a year that his stats would be as padded. Im not taking anything away from Peyton's achievments/future achievments. Hes a great player, but if you look at it from the outside, Marino made things happen with little at his disposal. Can you say the same about Peyton?

Marino could win the big games though. And at times during his career, the dolphins had a defense. The colts will never have a defense. And if they ever do, they'll have to give up some of peytons weapons to do it.

This isn't an arguement you can have with FinFans, its not worth it.

Aye Dan showed that he cared about more than records. Even his last years with the dolphins he showed more intensity then we see out of most "leaders" now. Somone make a time machine and well take ricky back to 84. Lol the idea of somone having to stop ricky up the middle and handle an arm like Danny's makes me cry.

This is what I'm talking about in when it come to JP Losman...

People confuse his emotion and intensity for ****iness. Did Dan believe he was the best player on the field when he put on a helmet? Did Dan sometimes come off as brash?

I'm not saying Losman will be the next Marino, but those qualities aren't bad in a QB.

If it were anyone else, i'd let up and give in to the arguement. I just think Mannings had everything handed to him on a silver platter, and hes still not getting it done. I hate thinking how much work Marino had to do to achieve what he did, where as Manning was given a hall of fame RB, WR, and possibly some O-linemen as well. I would agree that Montana could be better then Marino, Or Brett Favre especially. But i refuse to just think manning is anythign better then a special part of an amazing offense. Where as marino was an amazing part of an other wise 'ok' offense.

Marino is the most talented QB to ever play the game.

Peyton is the smartest and best prepared QB to ever play the game.

Their levels of success depend souly on the system and talent surround them. Put Marino in the colts offense right now and he wouldn't fare well. Its too many audibles and reading defenses at the line. Not enough just going out there and throwing. Put Manning in the fins offense of the 80's/90's and he would get destroyed by not having the play action or a decent rb to hand/throw the ball to.

Each reached the pinacle of the position with different weapons. Marino his arm and heart, and Peyton his mind and eyes.

If you were going to assemble a team around one guy though, it would have to be Marino for the sheer fact that he makes more with less. Anyone who disputes that better have a hell of an arguement.

Unlike Marino, Losman has yet to prove himself in a NFL game

Ummm...you forgot to mention that when the Dolphins had a defense during his career they had no offense except for him....

Unless you consider KAJ a great RB like Elway had in TD or even Peyton with Edge and of course we cant forget the great receivers....

O. Gadsden - Good guy and good receiver but no Marvin Harrison.

O.J. - My fav. but again...No Marvin Harrison.

Troy Drayton - awesome Tight End ...NOT

I wont even get into the others like the disappointment of Fred Barnett, Tony Martin etc. etc. etc.

Remember that this was when he had a Defense...which I would consider that around 96-97 to 99.

Before then our defense was cannon fodder.

Don't worry, he won't.
