Marino was great, but Sammy Baugh is the greatest QB of all time

The bills should've passed out roids, they might of won a Super Bowl then.
Maybe, then again maybe the Phins should have done the same. They might have pulled out a victory over Buffalo in AFC Championship games.

This is a DOLPHINS board, what do you expect? Go post on a Bills board if you're tired of reading the truth.

Your thread is like saying Bob Cousy was a better guard than Michael Jordan.....you cant compare the two.
That is a good point. I guess I measure greatness by impact. Marino was incredible (in spite of having the weirdest throwing mechanics this side of Bernie Kosar), I just think Baugh did far more for the sport. Thus the greatest ever. Calling Marino the greatest makes me feel that Baugh's contributions are lessened.

You take success in sports and elevate it to the level of losing a child and you question my class? You have some issues dude. I'm sorry if this opinion offends you that much, that wasn't my intention. My intention was to show how great another QB who rarely gets the props that he should stands next to Marino, who I've read on this board to be the "Greatest QB Ever" multiple times. But seriously I think you should re-examine your priorities.

I'm not going to get into a PC discusion. I know what I meant. Your post was meant to be a troll post and start confrontations. So look in the mirror about issues.

Truth has to be proven friend. So far you haven't done that. If it's so obvious it shouldn't be hard.

Are you his Mom ? This is getting weird.

I have no idea what you meant! I just hope I messed up your meaning. Or else as I said before, you hold football to highly.

I'm not your friend. Everything was proven today at the induction. Obviously you didn't watch it.

I watched it all. Dan Jr's speech was great, you could tell it really got to Dan Sr. I loved his final pass as well. But I am not close to being convinced.

Watched countless NFL Films Documentaries on the guy! Baugh changed the NFL forever, made the forward pass a weapon that was actually used. Without Baugh it's possible that Marino would have never had the chance to be great because the league would have always been running based.

Wrong, the man that changed the NFL was [size=-1]Benny Friedman. He set all the records for passing long before Baugh came around. Did you not get your history lesson today during the induction of Friedman into the Hall of Fame?

Sammy Baugh came after Friedman set the record for passing TDs in the NFL. Baugh should thank Benny for the rule changes put in place. I think you need to read those chapters in history over again.

I will agree that Baugh laid the groundwork for Marino and co., but that doesn't make him the greatest nor does it lessen his contribution. You question Marino's throwing mechanics, doesn't that make him an innovator like Baugh?

Watch the two of them throw. There is simply no comparison. Marino exceeds him by an enormous level. Add that to his ability to run an offense, the numbers he put up and the records he broke, and his field vision and its not even close. I would agree that its debatable as to whether he is the best ever in comparison to Elway, etc. (of course, Marino is in my opinion); but Baugh isn't close.

Answer that question by asking yourself this: "Who is the last person on the good Lord's green Earth that I, as a coach/player/fan, would want to look across the field and see taking the snap in the most important game of my life?"...there's your answer.

You came in with a statement with no supporting evidence, yet you expect proof when people refute it. Where is your proof? Certainly its not in the numbers.
