Twas a sad day. Not only for us Fin fans, but truly for all of the NFL. :(

I don't know if it was for all the nfl....i'm sure there were some people glad to see him retire.

Go Fins!!!

We have that speech on video.A real tearjerker especially if you listen to it now that we havent come close to finding a replacement for him.

I'm a grown man and I had tears streaming down my face when
Danny retired.

Grown women too. I was crushed when he retired and like one poster said, there will never be another like him. A great man on and off the field.......Glad we will still get to see him commentating on TV, (btw love his terrific sense of humor too) ......still have his picture hanging up in my computer room where it will remain until hell freezes over <g>:D

Anytime the NFL loses a player of Marinos stature and caliber ...it's a loss for everyone. That being said of course alot of people said good riddance...they didn't have to worry about him tearing them up anymore. :D

wasnt he already inducted into the hall of fame?

Nope, it's happening this year.

:clap::mdfin:

:friday:Cheers to Dan.

I regret missing the bulk of this mans great career due to my being a younger age and having a less enthused attitude towards football in the late 80's, early nineties, but to be a fan now of the Miami Dolphins and to hear the stories, the truths, the great accomplishments is truely fun and exciting.

Great speech.

he can speak so well

Dan run for president u can speak better than the president now. Id vote for him :)

Especially for a guy who went to Pitt ! :rofl3:

I remember when we finally got cable in 1982 and I was a sophomore in High school. I used to stay up late watching ESPN and one night I watched Pitt destroy someone, I forget who it was, and that was the first time I watched Marino and I was a fan ever since. I lived in Pompano Beach in the late 60's and early 70's so I was a Dolphin fan from way back and when the Dolphins drafted Dan the Man in 83, I was pumped!!! Now that I live in Maine, I always try to get the Patsies/Phins game and have made it to a lot of the games. And now because of another Dolphin fan, I will be able to attend the HOF induction on Aug. 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to meet all you Dolphin fans out there!!
