Let me preface this by saying in my plan, we sign a veteran Guard to start on the O-Line (Franklin or Carpenter) and a starting linebacker (David Harris) to replace Wheeler and/or Ellerbe, who we should cut.

Ideally, I'd like to trade down a couple times and maybe get 3 or 4 extra picks later in the draft, but those are hard to project because the other team has to be willing to give up the picks, so I'm just sticking with our original 7 picks... Here goes.....

1.14 Kevin White, WR, WVU - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpNVPq2XUKo
Originally, I wanted Davante Parker, but after watching tape on both of them, White jumps off the screen a bit more. He just seems like he has another gear. He also seems he would fit our offense better than Parker, as I feel he'd be better at screens and crossing routes, although I love Parker's catch radius. His character and maturity is concerning at times (flipping the bird at the crowd in his final collegiate game), but ultimately the talent outweighs that. It is vital to get Tannehill another top flight weapon. White has been compared by some to a young Larry Fitzgerald.
Alternate pick: Danny Shelton, DT, Washington

2.15 Erik Kendricks, LB, UCLA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DA1YlRC75c
Dude is a playmaker, plain and simple. Great closing speed. He could be just what our defense needs.
Alternate pick: Malcolm Brown, DT, Texas

3.14 Jay Ajayi, RB, Boise State https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zOAKw36VpI
LOVE this kid. One of my favorite 3rd round targets in the draft this year. Thankfully, running back is fairly deep this year, otherwise, Ajayi may not fall to us. He would be the perfect complement for Miller. Ajayi has a nose for the end zone and more importantly, can gain yards after contact and make tacklers miss.
Alternate pick: Senquez Golson, CB, Texas A&M

4.15 Ladarius Gunter, CB, Miami (Fla.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tekcy-66iIk
Tall DB (6'2") that we need to cover the new breed of WR in the NFL. Is able to succeed in multiple coverages. Agressive. Main knock on him is that he doesn't turn his head quick enough to locate the ball, but I think that's something that can be coached.
Alternate pick: Durrell Eskridge, FS, Syracuse

5.14 Chucky Hunter, DT, TCU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMoqwp9yy0g
Will help our run defense. Granted, not as big as a Danny Shelton, but in the 5th round, I feel like this is pretty good value. Quick and athletic, especially for his size (6'1", 305 lbs.), Hunter is also a high character guy.
Alternate pick: Quandre Diggs, CB, Texas

6.15 Adrian Amos, FS, Penn State https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgNJN-8iPsM
Aggressive and explosive player with an NFL body. He seems like he'd be a playmaker at the next level, which is what we need.
Alternate pick: Adam Shead, OG, Oklahoma

7.14 Jared Roberts, K, Colorado State https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWq4mWlWLGc
Not sure he falls to the 7th, but he is a kicker, so you never know. All I know is that we MUST get a replacement for Sturgis. No one on this team makes me feel "queasier" than Sturgis, except maybe the head coach.
Alternate pick: Kyle Brindza, K, Notre Dame

Thoughts, opinions, etc.???

Ideally you would trade down? Jeff Ireland fan?

We traded down in 2010 from 12th overall to 28th and took Jared Odrick. In the process we passed up elite talent like Earl Thomas (14th), Demaryius Thomas (22nd) and Dez Bryant (24th) and better players like Mike Iupati (17th), Maurkice Pouncey (18th) and Jermaine Gresham (21st). All of which would have helped the team more than Jared Odrick did or has since.

There will be elite talent sitting there at 14 in this draft...question is will the Dolphins have enough sense to make the pick or will they pick the "solid" need player instead.

By the way I like Chucky Hunter but we need a space eater...a big plugger. I'm not sure who that is on the 3rd day of the draft.

I agree. I want a gamebreaker at 14. If Kevin White, Parker, and Green-Beckham are all gone then I'd go with Melvin Gordon... I seriously doubt all three of those guys will be gone, however.

I'm not talking about trading out of the first round, but there should still be some playmakers in the early 20s. This is a very DEEP draft and if it means picking up an extra second or third rounder, or both, then I'm all for it.

What about Jaelen Strong. Tannehill could use someone like that also...

A guy that I like late in the draft is Kasen Williams. He was dinged up a lot of the year, but he's a big WR that didn't play all that well this year, but had a nice bowl game. Long arms, wide catch radius, physical, smooth speed if not blazing fast. Like a bigger Keenan Allen.

I'm am all in on your 1st 2 picks. I like whole mock you have there minus round 3. I like Cody Prewitt from Ole Miss in round 3. He's a prototypical Free Safety. He'd be a perfect compliment to Reshad Jones.

I disagree...I don't see it as a very deep draft at all. There's elite talent at the top and solid talent at some positions. There's no elite talent at ILB, there's no elite talent at TE, there's one elite DT (Leonard Williams), there's one elite WR (Amari Cooper) with two other WRs with the potential to be elite (Kevin White, DeVante Parker), there are 2 elite RBs (Melvin Gordon and Todd Gurley), there are 2 elite DEs (Randy Gregory and Shane Ray) and that might be the extent of elite players in this draft. There are some very solid pass rushing OLBs who would work well in a 3-4 like Dante Fowler and Vic Beasley...you could maybe argue Shaq Thompson is elite at OLB but I think he's just a solid player not elite level...I haven't looked at OTs in this draft so there may be some elite prospects there but I haven't heard of any dominating OTs.

The draft has a lot of very solid RBs, a few solid CBs, some solid DEs but I don't see much more than that.

I love these Jeff Ireland jabs...maybe he's a Hickey fan? The guy who traded down twice and still landed Landry.

I would be fine with Prewitt in the 3rd round. We need a safety more than a running back, but I have an absolute mancrush on Ajayi.
