Marino's record broken

Most touchdowns through first 5 years, pass happy era every record will be broken just part of the rule changes
Although the last couple of games it feels like the officials have went back to 1990’s defences allowed against Miami judging by how much our WR’s are being mugged with no flags.

Marino in this era, with these rules, would have set records that might not get broken this century.

I also have to laugh at the duration of “5 seasons” - that’s a long time. It’s no where near as interesting as “single season” or “first 50 games” etc. And as mentioned, once the rule changes of 2004 and 2007 hit, guts starting throwing 30+ as the new 40+ - not impressive, sorry

Forget about the records of the past, not the same game as was played back then. These qb's of today would chit the bed under the old rules. Every rule was implemented to help the offenses. Marino would throw for 6000 yards and 50+ td's a season in todays game.

If I had to guess, Allen will not break any of the Marino's carreer records. I think with Allen continuing to run recklessly, he will get hurt. That will cut his carreer short. I am not hoping for this, just an observation. A lot of the running QBs have their carreers cut short due to injuries, and Allen could very well be added to the list.

That's a bit misleading though cause Marino only had 3 rushing TD's in those 5 years while Allen had a bunch of them(can’t recall the number now) so as far as TD PASSES, Marino had way more than Allen.
It is misleading, but not for that reason. Rushing TDs count just as many points as passing ones. Besides, no one is suggesting (that I have seen) that Allen's arm is even in the same class.

It's misleading, because the rules for defenders have been changed to be more advantageous to the QB/WR.

well that too but I meant from a passer standpoint, Allen is and never will be in the same category as Marino.

I keep seeing this, but it hasn't happened yet. You can hate on the guy if you want, but he is a big strong dude. He picks his spots to run and the way the rules are today, doesn't have to take contact if he doesn't want to.

He isn't a "running QB" in the sense that an RG3, (or Jackson, Murray, etc) was a running QB.
