Ok, so im reading Favres book, when it shows the list of people he has thrown TDs to in a regular season, and I look and I see Mark Clayton's name on it. So im thinking to my same, nah this cant be the same Clayton that played for us. So I put the book down, and looked up Marks stats. And it showed that he played for the Packers for a season. My question is, how the hell did he become a Packer?

His contract with Miami ran out after the 1992 season, simple as that. The Dolphins wanted to bring in fresh blood at WR, so they let him and Duper Walk, and brought in Irving Fryar and Mark Ingram for '93.

Clayton only played one season in Green Bay, highlighted by 2 TD's in the first game of the season and also caught the winning TD bomb from Favre in their playoff win over the Lions that year.

i remember that well because on of my favorite football cards was a 93' Mark Clayton in a phins uni'... however it said (signed by packers) on it. wow that was 13 years ago.... i wasn't even 10 then and thats one of my newer cards!

yeah and duper went to the eagles?

Yeah, I just found this out a few days ago also.

Damn WTH you guys are making me feel old.

I remember tuning into the Packers first pre-season game that year to see Clayton in his new uniform.

Still pisses me off.

Although he's still my favorite receiver of all-time.

Cause I always thought they retired with us.
reading this thread makes me feel like moses Lmao:sidelol:

If I remember right the dolphins signed TE Keith Jackson from the Eagles and the Marks bros. were very vocal about wanting more money after seeing what Jackson was getting. I think Shula put his foot down on that one and sent them packing.

It was a good move by Shula. I remember seeing Clayton in a Green Bay game that year and realizing that, at that point in his career, he wasn't as good a receiver as Fryar or Mark Ingram.

Many did. Ron Heller once told me they did that because later in their careers they wanted to play on grass to save their hips and especially their knees.

Mark Duper did go to the Eagles but I believe he was cut before the regular season. I remember Shula saying it was the hardest cut he ever had to make (of Duper in training camp). The Eagles promptly scooped him up but he never stuck. Duper then went on to play with either the Shreveport Pirates or the Memphis Maddogs of the Canadian Football League (yes, I live in Canada which is why I know this) and as a Dolphin fan it was painful to watch the once great Duper struggle to hold on to his career.

P.S. The expansion by the CFL to the US didn't last long and only Baltimore was a real success for the short time they had a team.
