Mark Sanchez nfl's Fernando Valenzuela

The NFL wants the Mexican market so bad that it is trying to make QB Mark Sanchez a version of what MLB did in the 80's with Fernando Valenzuela. They had several spanish speaking commercials during the game on Monday night. I wonder how the Mexicans are welcoming their new poster boy.


Any Mexicans out there want to comment? Im curious to find out what they think about this.

It doesn't really matter to me. I'm not Mexican or anything, but this happens in sports all the time. It mostly benefits the player though, like Yao Ming and China. I'm willing to bet Yao probably has more money than any player in the NBA because of the endorsements he gets from China, which is a huge market. Not sure how the market is in Mexico. Mark plays in New York, which will benefit his bank as well.

I like it. I think the more people you can appeal to with your product the better off you will be. Money has no color or creed...

I really enjoyed the fact that the NFL and MNF pumped Sanchez over and over like he was the only one playing, then Chad Henne and Ronnie Brown completely outplayed them. Without this poetic justice scenario, I'm not sure if we win that game.
