maybe this has been spoken about and i'm out of the loop... but are there any concerns with the clay infield and Daunte tweeking his knee? It's always a concern with any player that must go from the grass to the clay, shouldn't there be a greater concern because of Daunte's knee

and what would be an alternative to the clay infield?? I say send the marlins over to some local baseball field and cancel whatever little league games they have going on there!

I've never heard anyone mention that, but I would have to say that it'd be a serious concern. Good thinking, brougham!

I can just see it now..."Daunte breaks free, he's out in the open....ohhhh what's this?? His cleat just got stuck in the clay, he's down, Daunte is down for the count". Every play there is a possibility of something like that happening, not just with Daunte. Yeah, sure there is always a chance of someone getting hurt on any given play but i believe that clay bs increases the chances of players getting hurt. I can't believe something hasn't been worked out by now.

Yeah, I hate the infield also. Seems like at least one player a year tears something because of it. If the Marlins miss the playoffs, only two regular season games will be played on that dirt. Culpepper may not even have to play on that if he isn't completely healed by the beginning of the season. Harrington might have to though.

I agree, I just can't believe that Huizenga wouldn't protect his investments a little better. With all of the planned upgrades and the practice bubble, he should make the marlins roll out or make them play on a grass infield.

He is pushing them out. Only two more years before the stadium belongs completely to the Dolphins.

In highschool we played baseball on basically an all grass infield. Only around the bases was clay. I still think that was the best infield i've ever played games on. Why the Marlins can't have something similar... i dunno. I grew up in south florida but i'm not a Marlins fan. Maybe if they were called the "Miami Marlins" then it might be differen't. But i grew up watching the Braves because they were the closest team. That stadium is built for football and that's it, they need a baseball stadium.

I thought the Marlins were moving to Vegas and we were getting rid of that stupid diamond???Please anybody with some news on that???I was sure we were rid of that stupid team.

Oh and Mare hates kicking field goals off of the clay too!

Either Vegas or San Antonio. Like Nublar said, probably two years and they'll be out.

They don't have any bit of a chance at a playoff game. They are hopeless. It's good that they will only have two games on the clay though, it always seems like more than that. Can't they put some kind of grass over it?
