At the beginning of the season everybody was talking about how great Maroney is, it's died down a little but it's still there. Even when Brown had a good game, there were many critics downplaying his performance by saying that Ricky Williams/Laurence Maroney would've done better. Many critics point out Brown's game against the Steelers while completely ignoring Maroney's combined 30 carries for 56 rushing yards against the Broncos/Dolphins. Any logical person would realise that a RB needs running lanes to have success. We didn't even start using 2 TE sets/FB until the Jets game. It's hard to run when you have a poor OL and no lead blocker.

What exactly is Maroney doing in his rookie season, that Brown didn't do in his? Maroney is on pace for 916 rushing yards in 214 carries, Brown had 907 rushing yards in 207 carries; Maroney is averaging 4.28 ypc so far this season while Brown averaged 4.38 ypc. Maroney is on pace for 218 receiving yards, Brown had 232 receiving yards as a rookie. Maroney has had the benefit of playing behind a better OL while also playing on a team that has a top 3 QB in Tom Brady, ask Edgerrin James how much he benefited from playing on a team with a good OL and franchise QB.

Brown has 1,528 career rushing yards in 358 carries. That's a season's worth of carries and somehow he's just an average/above average back? The only thing Brown is lacking is getting carries, and that's certainly not his fault. As it is, Ronnie Brown is on pace for 1,242 rushing yards and just 302 carries. The scary thing is he's not being utilized anywhere near what he should be; Ronnie Brown gets much better as the game goes on but too often we've abandoned the run. Brown isn't even utilized properly in the passing game and he's still on pace for 498 receiving yards.

Oh, and is there still anybody out there that believes Cadillac Williams is better than Ronnie Brown?

Thank god for that! You can have Benson Bears fan. How did that win for us and that loss feel for you last night? Removed.

I love Ronnie but I don't like what I see when he gets in the open field. Slow as hell.

hahaha Its a good thing we have brown instead of benson. Who ever put in that quote about benson needs to be banned form the site.

nice comeback Marino1348

The Maroney vs Ronnie debate has been curious to me.

Maroney is really good. Ronnie is really good.

Maroney's quicker than Ronnie, but Ronnie has more power, and from what I've seen (about 3 pats games) Maroney's a poor receiver. Ronnie kills him in that department.

Oh, and Ronnie's got much better vision!!!

we all know ronnie has NEVER had a 34 yd rushing performance.

yeah, that crappy benson!!

ricky ABSOLUTELY would have had more yards. why? because
ronnie STILL does that STUPID AZZ wiggle move on allmost
EVERY play. even my wife commented "why is he doing that"?

it just costs him yds and makes him look like a jr high player.

he could have had 40-60 more yds had he just kept running
and not stopped and break danced every time!!

157 yd game! super impressive, seeing how even sorry
defenses can hold him regularly to under 50 yds.

if a guy is going to be worth the 2nd over all pick and
22 mill to sign and 7 mill a year salary these kind of
games should be the NORM, not the exeption like
it was today.

HOPEFULLY he will keep doing this and make himself
worth what has been invested in him.

but HOW MANY BACKS in dolphins history have had
this kind of game [and many more like it] only to
flame out?

talk to me in 2 more years about the "real ronnie".

Good post. I'm going to need these stats due to my band wagon Pats friend who thinks Maroney is god.
