But it's somewhat significant when the quarterback in question was the best ever for a team that has mastered the single-wing attack.

"It would be difficult for me because, I think, there's a certain thing about rhythm," Marino told our friends at WQAM in Miami. "But, at the same time, if you're running off seven or eight yards a clip you can understand it. But me, personally, I don't think I can handle coming on and off the field and breaking up your rhythm as far as throwing the football."

You know I love Danny boy, but what is it with eveyone dissing the WCat. I don't get it is the heart of our offense, It has brought back the Fins from the trenches of the NFL and it has won us big games. Yet, someone who has meant so much to this organization has a problem with it.

he wasnt dissing the wildcat, he was just saying he wouldnt want to come on and off the field

He's just older school. I didn't bother Henne who had great rythm with it.

It's his opinion. Who cares, if it's working for us then cool. But I think in the future we won't have to use the Wildcat as much as we do now because we have Henne that can throw the ball and keep the defense backing away from stacking the box.

You would've had to get Ricky & Ronnie to drag Marino off the field and one stay to hold him down so the other could go take the snap.

I read the article I by no means took it as Marino dissing the Wildcat.. Just that if he was the QB he wouldnt like it. That would be like asking P. Manning to take a couple plays off so his running back could take a few snaps.

I have not understood the argument about don't take the ball out of the QB's hands. Every time a QB hands the ball off on a running play the ball has been taken out of his hands. Or this talk about getting the QB out his rhythm. Not sure how a QB staying on the field and handing the ball off keeps him in his rhythm, but having him come off the field of play gets him out of his rhythm.

Isn't that exactly what happens when a running play is called? All Peyton does is hand the ball off.

We would never have to run the WC when there would only be 6 guys in the box against Dan "The Man" Marino. All great QB's would want the ball in their hands, they wouldn't be great otherwise. If Henne becomes a franchise QB he to will grow wary of the WC, but we obviousily won't need it either then.

And thats why he never won a super bowl

He never wanted to run the football...

I was watching that San Diego game where Pete missed a fg...

We had 1st and 10 with 16 seconds left and 2 time outs...

Instead of running the ball Marino( not that he called the plays)

throws 2 passes..no gain...Pete misses..

Just saying..You wanna win gotta run the rock...

And the wildcat that pounds the rock

When will people understand that when you have an established franchise QB it's not necessary, but when you don't, and instead you have talented backs and run blockers it becomes a useful weapon.

As it is now, Henne is still developing and the Dolphins don't have the big threat at receiver so the wildcat is beneficial to our effort to win games.

Asking hall of fame QBs if they would be comfortable coming off the field for the wild cat, well that's what you'd expect their response to be.

"Alright Marino, you don't want to hand it off? We'll just replace you with the running back!"

- Abdul-Jabbar tackled for a loss -

He had a bum knee. He wouldn't want to keep running on & off the field.

Besides, if we had a prime Marino/Duper/Clayton on our team right now, we probably wouldn't be running the Wildcat.

I've argued this also many a time. It really breaks the QB's rythm if he even has any. I love the wildcat but I hate running it on 1st and second down.

1st down ricky sweep, 4 yds. 2nd down ronnie up the middle 2 yds. 3&4 Henne please come in and hit a pass. He's cold. Then lets say he gets it, then we run the wildcat again. I like the WC but we need to tone it down on multiple usuage, SOMETIMES.
