Thank god we got Adam Gase!

It isn't often we get hires right *looks angrily at our entire front office and scouting team* but looking at these coaches getting hired this year - makes me feel even luckier than ever that we someone stumbled our way into making the hire

I know Tbaum wanted to hire Marrone last year (lucky miss!) but all of these hires (and I liked Jospeh) would have left me thoroughly underwhelmed. McVay could land in LA and McDaniels will probably end up in SF - no thanks.

Well done Mr Ross! We can now go into an offseason feeling good about the coaching staff for the first time since when? 2008? (and that didnt last long!)

I'm very skeptical of the McDermott hire.

He's been in the interview carousel for years now and nobody's ever hired him.

He must be the least impressive interview ever.

I hated the Buffalo Marrone hire but being that he is the only coach to take buffalo above .500 in the last decade I give him respect

He did wonders for a pretty abysmal Syracuse football team. I guess it's the Homer in me

Marrone wasn't a bad coach with the Bills. Didn't have the offense. But it's shortsighted to say none of these coaches work out

Even with Joseph going to the Broncos my feeling is we have Gase. Don't believe for a second the Broncos wouldn't have signed Gase if he was out there.

Went 9-7 with Orton as Qb , a banged up running game, no depth at wr beyond the starters and no TE at all.

Look at it this way. He's a 4-3 guy and I'd bet a transition is under way in beefalo..... darn it. /s

AG interviewed w/ the donkeys but Mr Ed chose cronyism (I mean Kubiak).

It does hurt your chance to be hired when you team goes to the Superbowl. Teams don't usually want to wait that long.

Agreed and there are a lot of Bills fans questioning this. Appears that even though Whaley was in charge of the search the Pegulas (trophy wife included) fell in love with what McDermott had to say. Not at all impressed with them as owners thus far.

McDermott generated a lot of buzz but no offers. Statisticall his defenses have averaged about middle of the pack in points, takeaways and 3rd downs. Bills have 24 UFAs and about 25 mil in space right now. Some of their delusional fans think they're close. Could see that string of no playoffs reach 20.

Question (I don't recall) did Philbin interview for several years before we hired him? Or was it his first year as a serious candidate?

He wasn't really a hot name, but after the Packers won the Super Bowl he started getting some looks. But the big mark on him was always that he didn't call plays. It would be similar if Clyde Christensen started getting looks because of the offense's improvements this year.

If I recall it was his only interview for a head coaching position. Reportedly, Ross was overwhelmd with how meticulous Philbin's organizational binder was.
