Now i think most people on here agree that Tight End needs to be addressed in this draft now i think we have more pressing needs to fill with day one picks however many that will be (JT trade?). But i think 3rd round on is a spot to get a TE who can open the middle of the field for our wide outs. Now this guy Bennett would be my choice at this juncture he is big athletic and takes pride in his blocking and pancake numbers now he did run a poor forty at the combine so he may slip to this point. Is he worth it? if not who is and when do we get our TE.

His measurables are
6'-6" 260lbs 34" vertical 18 reps at 225 but ran a 4.7ish 40

This is who i want who do you guys think is our next TE?

I would love to grab him with our 2B pick.

Bennett is the guy I want to. Best combination of size, receiving and blocking at the position this year. Not to mention he has more potential than any of the other guys. Coming out of high school this guy was a mega-recruit, one of the most sought after recruits in the nation. Never quite lived up to that hype, but I see him being a better pro than college player.

Will he be there in the 3rd? I personally think he is going to be the best TE of this draft.

Bennett is a nice TE, but personally I don't think he's enough of a clutch pass catcher for my tastes. I think we're targeting a TE in the 3rd-4th round and there are a lot of similarly rated TE's in this draft that I think Miami will wait and take whichever is still around on the 2nd day.

Personally, my top two do not jive with almost anyone elses, I have John Carlson as 1 and Jermichael Finley as a very close 2. Those two are definitely the best pluck catchers out there and will make the most impact in the passing game. After that, guys like Dustin Keller or Kellen Davis have potential and are very fast and athletic. I'd bunch Bennett and Fred Davis and maybe a couple more into that second group. While Bennett is the best blocker of that group and is big and athletic, I don't see him as being as good of a 3rd down back or red zone target despite his excellent size. Parcells utilizes his TE's to catch 3rd down passes and convert in the red zone. It would be great to get a guy who excelled as both a catcher and blocker (e.g. Carlson or Bennett), but when push comes to shove, they must be good catchers who can find the soft spot in the zone and otherwise run good routes.

I wouldn't mind taking Bennett in the 4th, but I doubt he lasts that long. I think Jermichael Finley may.
