I found this article interesting but not surprising.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...mi-richie-incognito-ted-wells-report/5492757/

I was a wallflower growing up. As such, I was picked on. Who wasn't?

My parents encouraged me to use my quick wit to confound my tormentors. They were fine w/ my defending myself as a means of last resort.

If you are smart enough to recognize your weakness but don't have "the parts" to adapt then its on you. His ambitious parents, though, shoulder alot of blame prior to his leaving for Stanford.

Thoughts?

It seems a bit to me like his parents fall short a little. His mom was probly busy as a big lawyer and dad, well....DNA runs deep.

I totally disagree. I just see his parents as being supportive. I assume that you realize that his Dad is a high profile professor in his own right. But his Mom, Jane Howard-Martin is Assistant Legal Counsel for Toyota US. She is in the big time. It is interesting to note that she flew in when he was unravelling.
Jonathan clearly has a mental health issue and needs help. Depression can generally be treated with the right medication. There is nothing to be gained by pointing the blame at his Mom and Dad. They are probably very good people (in spite of their Harvard educations:oops:).

A real man steps up and takes blame for his part in doing wrong. Martin has yet to step up, and admit he had an active part in this situation, and should have handled it better. This, I can't stand up for myself defense is bullchit. I have no respect for him as a man, or a player. It appears he has no respect for himself either.

You can bet the rest of the players in the league have no respect for him either.

There were plenty of avenues for him to take without getting physical. Go to the head coach, the GM, your DC.. Instead he chose to run home to Mama. If he was so embarrassed by the situation, maybe making it a national story wasn't the best idea.

He needed some heavy duty sandpaper and bleach to get all the sleaze of himself. I think he still needs to soak in tomato juice to get the skunk off him.

That is what I was going for.

As far as JM's parents, my intent was to point out they are culpable in not preparing JM for life outside the ivory tower. Can you say accessories after the fact?

My parents (both career educators) recognized that I was low key & cerebral; they made sure I would not be a human pin cushion the rest of my life. I can't imagine going through life as Alan Harper.. even worse Charlie Harper.

well, this is why I think he is still going for lawsuit. His agent is probly showing up at the combine to discuss demands because Mr. Martin is sittin pretty in politically correct land. The land where you dont need to say anything when your the victim. Even in court they can determine they will not put him on the stand and let the evidence stand.

Today, Richie Incognito left twitter. Probably at the advice of his lawyer.

All day today former players on ESPN were saying that Martin will absolutely find a place to play this year and lots of teams would take a guy who started at LT/RT. Its a politically correct world in which the good guy gets another chance and the bad guy, well, not so much. Not many opinions on Darren Sharper however.

Just the fact that Martin felt it was OK to publish texts to his parents in this case the way that they did to me shows that something is seriously wrong with him.

He has no spine, look at the way he speaks to his parents.

Even more than emotionally disturbed or depressed he is just incredibly immature.

Martin steamrolled the careers and lives of many people because he took the path he did. Think about it…Incognito might never play again. John Jerry is toxic….and sucks as a player to start with. Mike Pouncey is going to be out money. Jim Turner has a family to provide for…he is done. Poor Andrew McDonald has to defend himself from Wells' portrayal of his time in Miami. Joe Philbin is officially on the hot seat.

All of this could have been averted if Martin would have gone up of the chain of command by advocating for himself. Instead, he scorched the earth.

Did he go to Kohl's or Macy's and go to the Men's section and finally buy some pants that weren't in the boys department. Hopefully they came with a sack in them.

The guy is a mess. He needs psychiatric help. End of story.

It's apparent it's about more than just being a wallflower.

Sure, maybe you were a shy kid. But you didn't have the additional harassment of:

1. Being seen as not black enough, even by other blacks, therefore feeling outnumbered.
2. Being in a perpetual subservient position to other players on your team (Even after the rookie year was over, Richie made it clear that his still a rookie, and still his b*tch.
3. Dealing with "in your face" homophobia every day.
4. Dealing with a classic abuser, not just a bully. Bullies make you a target and keep targeting. Abusers show you love right after they abuse you.

I think Incognito is fine with people thinking Martin just didn't have the b*lls to stand up for himself, and I kind of assumed that too, but after this report, it's clear that things go much deeper than that and Martin has less options than we thought. Let's face it, the coaches didn't care. If Martin complained to the FO, he'd only be ostracized, or retaliated against, or seen as a weak player by the coach and benched.
