I love this pick regardless of whay Mel Kiper says. Martin was great value at 41. If most remember he was mocked to us at #8 with Reiff. Martin and Long is a really good Bookend. The only other guys that we could have taken was Lavonte David if we are running a 4-3, Bobbie Massie , or Peter Konz ( if we wanted to put Pouncey at his natural position at Guard) We can find a WR, Safety, OLB , and more line depth later in the draft. I dont really have opinion of Tannehill. He has tools and could be good, but in the same he could be a huge flop. I like the Martin pick and now if we grab a WR and OLB with our 2 3rd round picks I would be pretty happy.

If our O-line can give the QB 7+ secs per pass, then it honestly matters very little who the QB is. A good O-Line is a necessity. Wanted something flashy, but Martin was probably the best pick for us at #41

I like Martin the player, but I'm not a fan of the pick there.

We continue to spend playmaker picks on linemen that we could have found later in the draft.

Stephen Hill. Ryan Broyles. Reuben Randle. All still there.

And Bobbie Massie was the better player if you wanted a linemen.

Stronger guy from the battle-tested SEC. Kid is a mauler.

7+ seconds per pass ??? Do you watch football ?

Got 2nd round value in the 1st round and 1st round value in the 2nd round...balanced out in the end I guess.

Could of gotten good ofensive lineman later. Super pissed!

our receivers still wont get open

dont hate the pick. Mike Pouncey was considered weak when he was drafted and had to build up strength. He should be stronger this year after he got overwhelmed by big strong NT's last season. It will be the same for Martin, he will get stronger next year in 2013 with the training program. You cannot teach great feet, and that is very important for the zone blocking scheme Miami will be running for the O-line

Guys like Cordy Glenn and his brick cement feet in the mold of the slow Incognito is NOT was miami needed for this blocking scheme. And a guy like Massie doesn't have great feet either. So Martin was the right choice for the O-line with this scheme

Ever see Vernon Carey try to pull ? It made you want to gag. Same for Incognito with his crappy cement feet. This line will be far more athletic with alot of pulls and trap blocking. Both Pouncey and Martin (and even Jake) will see a lot of pulling action

No more of those slow and pathetic fat slugs up front. And thank god for that.

I think this is a good pick IF he has the potential to play LT in the NFL (he'll obviously start out at RT)

That would give us

a) A quality player to slide across to LT if Jake Long breaks down. That's been a need for a long time
b) The option not to sign Jake to a big new contract if it's too expensive. For once this could show some long term thinking

Exactly, well stated.

We've now spent over an entire draft on offensive lineman(two 1sts, a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th). We had a chance at getting a playmaker and instead we go back to plugging needs.

Good player but bad pick.
