Martin Steals Samunda's Car: Why can he bully other's and not be held accountable.

Gotta wonder why it is, don't you?

Why is it that when Martin does it to others, it's a funny joke.
When it happens to him, all of a sudden, it's soooooo horrible *Does boogeyman hands*

Martin is NO sort of victim here. None at all. If he's so upset with the
culture, etc then why did/does he, himself participate in it?

Lets call it what it is; If bullying is wrong, then it's wrong. There's no such thing
as "pranks" and "clowning" and "good natured ribbing" because it's all about when
someone feels offended.

I've heard it said; "Oh, the car thing was a group prank
and didn't leave any psycological impact".

Really? We're psycologists now? We know what's in a man's head
or heart? I've been told that I can't know, so, nobody else can
either I guess. Either things are right, or they are wrong. I'd say a
group of people engaging in a felony against another person would
just about be the very definition of bullying, would it not?

At any rate, it's interesting to see all the different motivation and slants
coming off this. The racial aspect is only being pursued on one end,
predicatably.

I personally think that Martin may indeed hate the culture in the NFL, as his
whole life he's probably been taught to litigate/report/let others handle it. He's
made some money, and he's gotten a good degree from Stanford. He'll be
just fine in life, like most of those born with the silver spoon.

Don't know what else Martin did either.

This.. The messages were 6 months old.

Martin was leaving for mental illness. Which is not paid leave. Claim harassment... paid.

Martin tested team, including Cog, and didn't blame team or him.

Reports are that they hung out occasionally outside of football.

Something is weird with this whole picture.

NOT EXCUSING Cog.. but let's try and be somewhat objective with the whole state of affairs.

This just isn't about Incognito. Other people may loose their jobs. A lot of collateral damage for an exchange between 2 people.

I think there is a distinct difference between a prank and racial text and text threatening family.

If Cog was serious, and he did in fact do that, yes. However if Martin was so offended by what Cog did he shouldn't partake in anything that could be viewed as a prank/bullying/hazing. He looks like a HUGE hypocrite.

you know what? for all philbin preaching about doing your job like a professional, this locker room seems to really find ways to be unprofessional

Yeah but if the texts and VMs were as bad as they are being portrayed, why would Martin frequently hang out with Incognito and be his side kick on pranking others?

We need more info regardless

All of your posts (literally just about all of them) are bashing Martin, yet you're silent on Incognito. Hmmmmm......
I'm not silent on Incognito at all. In a vaccume, what he did was wrong, regarding the racial slur and the threat.
Life does not exist in a vaccume, though and as more things come out about how Martin engaged in
calculated pranks/activities against other teammates as part of a group it makes me think that everyone
is over reacting to a story that will go much, much deeper.

Regardless of what Ritchie is or is not, Martin is a complete and total ***** who
has chosen to run away, rather than be a man and handle his own issues.

That makes him a *****, and weak in my opinion. Maybe he's a man to you,
but he's a ***** to me.

They sound to me like a pair of dysfunctional individuals.

One of them is the son of a couple of lawyers. The other one challenges reporters to fistfights on Twitter. Yup. I think that sums this thing up for me.

I understand but there is also no context associated with reading a quote. Was he laughing/joking when he said those things? I don't know, but it's possible. I've left some voice mails to some of my roommates and teammates that no doubt would paint me in just as bad a light as Cogs if you read them aloud. But, if you heard them they paint an entirely different story.

When you go down that road you expose yourself to risk. You don't get the luxury of telling the person how they should feel when they read it. I have seen plenty of great coworkers have careers ruined for "joking" with the flight attendants.

There is no silver lining her and so often people take **** to far. Incognito has taken **** way to far.

Funny, the "challenging" part would have been what I had done to
someone that had threatened to slap me, or kill me.......In a vacuum. If he just called up and
said; "Hey, I'm going to kill you and your family" or slap, whatever. I'd do it right in front
of our peers too, just to chop his balls off...Or, we could fight.

Not a reporter though...lol.

By the way, remember the uproar over Ireland asking Dez Bryant if his mom was a prostitute? Maybe he should be asking these players if their parents are lawyers.

I have been in plenty of locker rooms in my time and no what goes on. Listening to Bill Polian right now this is beyond hazing they just read the voicemail from Richie and it's just ridiculous. I think Polian has a great idea how the NFL works he'll many on him want him as a GM. He said " I would release him, it is beyond hazing, horse play etc. it is unacceptable behavior and cannot be tolerated!" He also said Jeff Saturday was the Colts Union Rep ant the time and he would have stopped this long ago. He blamed Dolphins leadership top to bottom.

Here is where things TO ME, are interesting. Its what I've been harping on all day. A Union rep is on site in the locker room and is the first line of defense for the Union members. Its why I think there might be more on Incogs side than we might believe. These media leaks are done for a reason, and why someone on the Martin side wants to fight this in the court of public opinion. Something just doesn't sit right for me at the moment.

The NFLPA is one of the strongest Unions around. I don't see how the team rep is/was not aware of 'bullying' matters. The NFLPA saying it was monitoring things said alot to me. It means they were not 'monitoring' things before.

I don't think anything happened here that doesn't happen on every other team.
I'm sure other teams are praying they stay out of this **** storm. but just because we're both sure this isn't an isolated event on one team, doesn't mean that this should continue.

I don't think anything happened here that doesn't happen on every other team.

There is hazing to varying degrees with every team I'm sure with coaches making rookies get them donuts and coffee in the morning to carrying a veteran team mates shoulder pads & helmet. None of it makes a team better on gameday. All these ex-players from Jeff Saturday to Warren Sapp to Cris Carter to Michael Irvin I'm sure did their part of "minor" hazing which to them was "okay".
