"If somebody were to hire me as an offensive coordinator, unless that head coach is real strong and settled, there's the threat of looking over his shoulder," Martz said. "It could be an unsettling deal. ... It can unnerve a young head coach, I would think. And then another thing is if they hire you, they'd think you're going to jump out of there as soon as you can to be a head coach."

This Bozo took over a Superbowl winning team that was built by Vermeil and returned them to their roots of sucking! He was hired as head coach only because Vermeil retired and now thinks that he is the second coming of Lombardi. Get lost jacka$$. If you were in such high demand, why haven't they been knocking your door down for one of the six or seven open head-coaching positions? BECAUSE YOU SUCK! :fire:

he wasn't being arrogant...he was pretty much telling the truth. if a young head coach hires martz, he's going to be intimidated. i doubt martz was talking about Saban, so don't take it personally either,

Sounds like he's trying his best to rationalize why he hasn't gotten much interest around the league.

Yep, he is right. But I always also thought he was a jerk!

agreed. i dislike him too. If you heard him on Steven A. Smiths show, you could tell. He said that if he were healthy, he would have made the rams that much better this year, and he'd still be the head coach.

I really hope we don't pick him up. I don't like him or his offensive philosophy. By that statement, you can already see a confrontation coming...he's not going to be told what to do. If we got him, I wouldn't be surprised to see him fired at some point during the season because of his ego.

I too dont like him. cant figure out just why, probably something he has done in the past. Did Vermeil's decision to leave the Rams have something to do with Martz?.

Why? Martz hasn't proven anything about being a head coach other than he sucks! So, why in the world would someone feel intimidated by him?

Hes proved he is a great OC. Every thing he said was true. Also remember Smith asked him those questions whats he supposed to do while hes looking for job.......say the Rams were better off without him?

That QB he picked up looked pretty good too. Hes also the guy that made Kurt Warner mvp

myself i just never like martz i hate his attitude i hope we get anybody but him anyways i don't think him and saban would get along.. :dolphins:

I think that is part of the interviewing process, to meet with him in person and find out if they will get along, I am sure Saban will be able to determine that better than us.

I dont think he'd be coming here. Besides, even if he were Saban is not the kind of coach to let a flake like Martz hold any sway over him.

example:

Saban: Hey Martz...

Martz: Yeah, Nick?

Saban: Instead of hanging around my office tring to give me advice and sitting at my desk, go outside and work with the offense alittle. Oh, and only work on RUNNING plays.

Martz: Uh, well, uh, I have to, uh, well you see Nick we don't allways have to run.....

Saban (interupting): Just get out there and make it happen. Oh, and Martz...

Martz: Yeah, Nick?

Saban: You can call me Coach Saban.

Martz (dejected): Ok Ni... Coach Saban.

Saban Would definitely let a guy like that know his place

Martz said he doesn't want to
be an offensive coordinator for a team with a young coach because he would be looking over his shoulder all the time. He said that he wanted to be a head coach first, but if indeed he were to accept a role as offensive coordinator he would prefer to work with Nick Saban. I believe this is a complement to Nick in that he is respected around the league as on of the best young coaches in the NFL and he seems to be doing things the right way. There is no denying that this club has a bright future and that being a coordinator on a play off team usually leads you to be a top candidate when a head coaching vacancy appears. :dolphins:
