Marvez: Dolphins draft has been universally panned

I don't believe this. I only believe positive reports until the actual season starts and these guys get on the field

I've gotta say I don't remember hearing folks iniversally gushing over a player like they are Jarvis Landry in any of our recent dratfs. This includes #3 overall Deion Jordan and #1 overall Jake Long. All of the analysts I've heard or fans I've talked to love him. We'll see how it orks out.

At the end of the day would be be getting lambasted if we didn;t get a day 1 starting RT in the draft? I surely thihnk we would. Damned if you do damned if you don't.

sure but you must have coaching, leadership and at least one year. I won't even give up on our '12 draftees until the end of this year. I don't take a college grad with a degree in molecular biology and expect him to lead a pharmacological project to success. its a big jump, i bet if I had desire and talent I might not get the WHOLE ****ING THING RIGHT between May and August. good lord, "until the season starts"?

Look...Alex Marvez has always loved every opportunity to pile on the Dolphins....not sure what his hate stems from but it has always been there continuosly.

So I disregard what he says anymore as it lacks credibility.

While there have been many that question how early James was taken...I've read several major draft evaluators that think it was a solid draft...so "universally panned" seems like an exaggeration.

Marvez used to cover the Dolphins so something must have happened while he was here. Definitely seems like he has a Paul Bunyon-sized axe to grind

I'm not going to listen to what Marvez said. Can anyone tell me what specific points he brought up and if he stated who (as in the universally panned) critics were?

Interestingly, Mayock refuses to give out grades.

Mike Mayock is similar to Chris Matthews. Big reputations and quite a bit of talent in certain areas, but risk averse and paranoid regarding how they are perceived.

Matthews won't predict an election until the final days, when the outcome is all but known. At least he admits as such: "I pick them late." Likewise, Mayock does a mock draft on the eve of the draft, when he's got the best chance of accuracy. He's not going to mock well ahead of time, or give out draft grades, because that type of thing can be cataloged against him.

I will concede that Mayock did not give away as many first round picks as last year, when he was an utter disgrace. I finally watched all of NFL Network's draft coverage. Last year Mayock had no shame in spilling every selection, tipping them like predictions when after had the information in his earpiece. This year he blatantly did that with the Blake Bortles pick. Mayock obviously realized he would take some heat for that, so he changed his approach for the remainder. It was hilarious. He'd throw out three possibilities but two of them would be generic, surrounding the name he knew would be the actual pick. It would be, "could be a receiver, could be Martin, could be a linebacker." Of course it would be Martin, the one with a name attached. I really wish a big name columnist with some spunk would challenge Mayock on things like that. If he were more well known, Saturday Night Live would parody it, similar to the way they've panned Matthews many times. Of course, Matthews gobbles it up.

Anyway, I bet Andy Cohen liked the Dolphins' draft.

"it could be a receiver, could be a tackle or it could be the Bills traded their 2015 first and 2015 fourth and will take Watkins right here"

I hated our draft esp taking James like 20 to 30 spots too soon but I did not see it universally panned.
I think most people like the Landry pick. I have heard people say the James pick wasn't bad because they had a first round grade on him but by that logic most teams that overdraft guys feel the same way so no pick would ever be a bad one lol.
I always notice too that every GM gets exactly who they wanted from their mouths while some of our fans always claim that such and such team really wanted the guy we took.

Tannehill probably went 20 picks too soon too. The problem is you don't get to decide when you want to pick, you have your pick then you have another one in 32 picks so if you think the player is going to go within that range then you probably should take him, right?
