"Marvellous" Alex Marvez is spewing his hate against the Dolphins. He makes some valid points but if you listen to the interview he actually said it is "egregious that Miami selected a WR (Jarvis Landry) in the 2nd round" after spending so much on Brian Hartline, Mike Wallace last year. The simple fact is that there many draft experts love the Landry pick including Mike Mayock and Mel Kiper Jr. He was taken because he was too good to ignore. What makes Alex Marvez qualified to describe this pick as egregious?
This is just a patently ridiculous comment from a local commentator who regularly goes out of his way to express his hate of the Dolphins. He hates the owner, hates the coach and now this was an early opportunity to hate new GM, Dennis Hickey with his egregious 2nd round round draft pick.

When Jarvis Landry starts winning games for the Dolphins, he will be extremely popular but until then we live with him as an egregious 2nd round Draft pick.

If there are no other players close to his ability but we could have traded back. Not really much prospect difference between him and moses who went early third round.
qb is different because sometimes there are only a few of those worth drafting. Nobody was taking James anywhere close to our pick.

This draft was about 2 starters on the OL and our 4th WR who could become #2-3 in a hurry. The rest will not see a whole lot of playing time aside from Special teams.
They are irons in the fire to be developed. Which is pretty smart IMO. We are loaded at DE but guys get older and expensive.

Finfan54 - Wait and see Jordie Tripp the 5th round Draft pick from Montana. We got one of the steals of the Draft with his athleticism and instincts. He will probably start on Special Teams but don't be surprised if he overtakes a highly priced incumbent straight away. He compares favorably with Kiko Alonzo but was overlooked because he comes from Montana. His speciality is forcing fumbles.

As polarizing as Mel Kiper can be, most fans do not appreciate the impact Mel has had on the draft over the years. Most don't appreciate the man's conviction and dedication to this one facet of the NFL that he has made his life's work.
People moan and groan about their team's GM not picking the player they want. Mel predicts for all teams. And he covers as many players as most scouting departments, if not more. You might find a spot in a broadcast where he has never heard of a player, but what most do not appreciate is Mel rarely goes into a telecast with more than a few handwritten notes. His knowledge of players is genuine; not spoonfed over the teleprompter or memorized. He knows football players.
In your spare time, with an open mind, do a little research on Mel Kiper's life, work and overall accuracy with predicting the NFL Draft. It consumes his life. He has done for mock drafting the NFL draft what Jimmy the Greek did for sports betting.
It's easy to take unsupported jabs at Kiper to prove a point or create some humor. But this man is passionate and not truly given the benefit of the doubt considering how much he has given of himself and his life to pursue his obsession in life.
I've never liked him much, but I do respect the man for doing what he loves to do and pouring his life into it.

Actually, we got pretty high marks on the segment I watched on ESPN where they were doing the "Draft Bracket".
MIA's draft has NOT been universally panned. That's just made up. Hell, even I ran out of angry after the second day.

Why? IN all the years I've been on this board I've pretty much been one of the strongest advocate for whatever regime
is in charge, unless I see something WAY out of line, then, I'm on that thing and won't let go.
I've actually taken huge heat over bashing the "Trifecta" before the playoff run. Then, I ate my crow, but guess what?
I should've stuck to my guns, because ultimately what I saw (Undisciplined play, sloppy tackling, mental errors)
persisted throughout that time.
I feel strongly we missed out on great talent with the James pick, but that's mitigated by the fact that
I'm pretty happy with the rest of the draft overall. Still doesn't change the fact I think we flushed
a great deal down the toilet.
I'm just less mad about it.

Jason LaCanfora tweeted a few days after the draft that a lot of NFL executives panned our draft also. Strangely enough though, he actually defended it.
After the dust settled and reports came in about the guys we drafted and their backgrounds and experience, I give it a B. I still think we wants Latimore and Denver pantsed us by jumping ahead. However, Turner seems like the Belle of the Ball and between him, Tripp and Aiken, we could've seriously scored some real players for a change.
My problem is James. When I hear that a guy has to 'get stronger', it sounds exactly like the recipe for failure that doomed Jordan and J-Mart in their rookie years. These guys are already 21,22 year-old men playing Division I football. Unless they get blasted with gamma rays I'm not sure where the super power is gonna from. The guys who came in strong are gonna 'get stronger' too.
I know we needed O-line help, but if we drafted some kid who's no better than an NFL journeyman in 2014 than what did we really accomplish? The draft, in the early rounds, especially, is to find guys who are better that almost anyone on your whole roster at the position (besides Albert). Is Juwan James gonna be better than Nate Garner in 2014?
