Marvez: Dolphins draft has been universally panned

Morgan Moses isn't close to the same as James prospect wise. Maybe draftniks felt they were similarly talented, but they all also had Moses going at the end of the first round or beginning of the second round, and he wasn't picked until the 3rd with all those OT hungry teams out there. They were way off on Moses, and it shows up on the tape. He's stiff and unathletic. James may not be a sexy pick, but he doesn't whiff on blocks, and he's very agile for a man his size. He's a much better prospect than Moses who struggles in space. There's very little negative out there on James. We might have taken him a little early, but nobody knows where most NFL teams really felt like he should have been picked. And it's inane to compare him to a third round pick.

How is it inane to compare him when we have no clue where James would have been picked if we didn't pick him. We can only agree that James is the player Miami wanted we can never know what the teams behind us thought.
The only team that gave an opinion of tackles has been Baltimore who stated that they felt none of the remaining tackles were worthy of drafting there. That's like saying u cannot compare to Turner to the guys that were drafted at beginning of second round.

Baltimore needed a tackle so bad they didn't take one with any or their nine picks. We can throw them out too as they clearly didn't NEED a tackle in this draft. I was lukewarm with the James pick myself until I watched the tape which IMHO is very good. I think the reason he was graded as a second round pick was because he was exclusively a RT. Like I said, in evaluating him you'll find very few negative comments from the draftniks, almost all of which is some variation of he needs to improve his run-blocking though he's not bad at it. I appreciate your cynicism dlockz, but you're right. None of us can really know where the rest of the NFL really values him. Because of that I think it's folly to get either too high, or too down on the pick. I just don't think he's close to a 3rd round player based off the tape. It really is pretty good.

Marvez hates the Dolphins...all you have to do is listen to him on Sirius for five minutes. Anytime the Dolphins are a topic of discussion, he tears them to shreds.

Please show me any of these so called remote control gurus that are any more right than anybody. For that matter NFL Gm's.
I don't get how when people don't like a pick somehow their opinion becomes less valid but to each their own. What your saying is at the heart of the arguement. That the people that disagree with the pick did not see any amazing difference between James and the other players left on the board. Oziie Newsome one of your favorite Gm's even said that there were no tackles worth taking at this similar spot. Not to mention the odds were there that James would still be there if we traded down. Its a moot point now this is what our GM did, doesn't mean we have to all agree with his line of thinking

I could care less what these guys did in shorts. On the field I don't see James as more athletic than Moses.
He wasn't a better player in college than Moses so we shall see at this level.
I want enamoured with either guy at pick 19. Neither was worthy of that pick.

Yes he is one of my favorite GMs but he;'s also the GM responsible for the Ravens OL mess they're still attempting to dig out from, and the one who spent a first for Michael Oher - and better but not great, a first on guard Ben Grubbs with 1 probowl out of 5 seasons for them (you'd expect more of a first) who's now moved on to the Saints.

I've never said Ozzie was perfect - and obviously the OL is one of his Achilles heels. So considering his track record of top picks for offensive linemen, to assert that his judgement (or the scouting input he receives) is infallible or that he was correct in passing on James and favoring Moses, IMO is just specious reasoning :idk:

I see it as half good and other half could have been better. Trading down in the first round would garner another 3rd round pick and potential starter on Defense we needed at MLB, maybe borland would have been in play.

I like first 3 picks, Picking CB in the 4th round I though was good value too. I just thought Desir was the better player but who knows. I dont like rest of the picks after that as I see. I dont see TRIPP as a MLB and not sure he will ever start. He does look like a top special teams player though. Lynch is OK. Looks like we are trying to replace egnew there. Fede is practice squad. Unless he turns into a DT or OLB I think he will stay on practice squad for a couple of years.

People suck. So tired of lackluster media. The media these days have become so lazy due to the internet.
