Marvez: The Dolphins have no talent

Guys, I listened to the interview and there is nothing that the man said that isn't the truth or seems to be a reach. Sorry sometimes the truth hurts. He didn't say there was no talent, he said there are missing pieces and frankly there is.

WR is a question, Safety is a question, Qb is a question, the right side of the line is a question, it just is.

His points about protecting a young QB with a strong running game and good defense is completely sound and valid. Look at several teams who implemented that formula, Pitt, NYG, Bal, SF etc...it works. Miami is going to have a long season if the offense goes up tempo and goes three and out all the time, it is going to beat the **** out of the Dolphins D.

I think he was a little harsh on his power ranking of the Phins but who the hell cares about power ranks anyway every other point he raised is valid and should be a concern head into the preseason.

Marvez summary:

* Dolphins have no talent
* Garrard is a bum
* The fact that Moore is toe to toe with Garrard shows he isn't very good
* Chad Johnson will have no positive impact
* The offensive line is in shambles
* The defense will probably struggle under a new DC in Coyle
* Fast paced offense will lead to 45 second three and outs and put pressure on the defense
* Thinks the Dolphins are the 31st team in the league.
* Bill Parcells is not a fault for any of the current problems
* Thinks Jeff Ireland botched the Flynn negotiations on purpose
* Discussed whether Miami should take Barkley with the 1st or 2nd overall pick

:rolleyes:

Am I reading that correctly???

And you guys listen to this clown for what reason, again :ponder:

He's right about that. However, if he did say Bill Parcells isn't responsible for the current state of the franchise, then that's something he "said that isn't the truth."

typically the only response the media gets out of me is, "Lol".. In all seriousness, us Finfans are far more qualified to comment on this team than ANY other media reporter outside the Miami beat writers. We are far more qualified to comment on Miami than Marves is.

Probably becuase true Fins fans are the only ones who can stomach 16 weeks of seasons like last year and actually watch the players and be able to say yeah Wake is a good player, Bush is pretty good, Vontae has some talent etc. We see there are holes too, don't know much about the new coaching and realize this season is up in the air and too tough to predict. Not like any season is predictable but this is a real tough team to judge for that power ranking type BS right now.

Outsiders are just going to say they suck why would this year be any different?

Well I guess the word is spreading.

that dude has a negative outlook even for me. You can tell they're morons when they talk about us going after moss. just wow....I agree with the safties assesment, the WR stuff minus the randy moss nonsense but basically everything else is bull****. Matt Flynn doesn't even lock up the seahawk job over a third round rookie and Tjack? Seriously? and you're gonna bitch aboutus not signing him? These guys are hacks who don't actually watch football but just listen to the other big media experts to form their stupid opinions.

see here's the thing with the fast pace offense, what players we do have on offense (while not necessarily top guys) do fit the quick style. Now if Philbin wants a vertical passing game that may be a problem, but Bess/Hartline/ and to a lesser extent Naanee are good at getting themselves open.

Struggles with defense very possible, but switching from a 3-4 base is not nearly as hard as the opposite. Biggest question is how the LBs will do as they aren't really sideline to sideline guys.

I think our CBs fit Coyle's system from what I've seen his secondary do in Cincy. Safety is an issue but it's been an issue since Renaldo Hill left a few years ago.

For whatever reason, HArtline gets a bad rap on here.. Contrary to the belief of some, Hartline is pretty good at getting open deep.

He's right about that. However, if he did say Bill Parcells isn't responsible for the current state of the franchise, then that's something he "said that isn't the truth."

Nah Bill isn't to blame anymore. Bill is good at building basements to build a team off and nothing more, the Jets where fine after Bill left and turned it around quickly, Dallas was fine and kept afloat and even the Pats were fine. Bill gutted the roster and made some tough decisions and that is what he is good at, nothing more.

This team had enough time since Bill to figure it out, blaming Bill at this point is like blaming last years prom date that stood you up for your lack of a date to this years prom.

What do you mean enough time to figure it out? Bill Parcells was hired to build up the team. He didn't do it. He wiffed on the most important position in football. He saddled us with an awful coach. He wasted high draft picks. Only now have we moved on (except for Ireland). The reason the team hasn't done well since Parcells slinked out of here with his suitcases full of money is because the people he hired to run the team and the talent that he helped to acquire for the team couldn't cut it. You seem to think Huizenga hired him simply to fire some people. Rather, he was hired to turn the franchise around. He didn't do that, at all. We went from a 1-7 team to a 6-10 team with one flukey year where they tied for the division lead and got bounced in the playoffs. If this team finally gets turned around, it will be because we've only now gotten rid of Parcells and his influence.

Whizafriz, I agree with your estimate of what the Phins are likely to be this year. However, I'm also compelled to be interested in this team. I have always followed them closely, but I think they may finally have the makings of a great coaching staff. I have no real evidence of this yet, except for their draft and free agency choices. I sense that the staff is not panicked and that they feel they know what they are doing, what they need and that time will fix the problems they perceive with the team. Therefore, they will slowly build without too many reaches and DEVELOP or get rid of the players they have. I think Philbin knows its a a process where time and good coaching will get his team where it needs to be: a perennial playoff contender. All of this is a gut feeling at this time, but the vibes I'm getting make me feel that way. I hope I'm right.
