Massive 4 man front.

Their defense doesn't scare me. It's Tom Brady who scares me. That offense went 14-2 last year. The second they got shut down, they were beaten in the playoffs in the first game. They haven't won a playoff game since 2007.

That fact can't be understated. They have been dominated in the trenches dating back to the SB against the Giants. BB, like Shula can make a team play above their talent level. Brady is also a smart player that keeps the offense cohesive. Aside from that, I don't think the Pats have an elite roster in terms of overall talent. There are plenty of holes on that team. Question is, do we have a good enough coaching staff to exploit those holes? I think that overall the Phins and Jets have more talent, notwithstanding the coaching and QB play.
Most of the pundits fawn over any offseason move the Pats make and give them the benefit of the doubt every preseason based on previous successes (that's understandable). However, I believe that Pioli was the guy that kept that roster stocked up and he is gone.

Call me homer but I think the so-called experts have no idea how good our Defense is likely to be this season. Provided the young DBs continue to improve, I think that we are set. And the beauty is that so many parts have come from good drafting and haven't cost an arm and a leg.

lol yet they ARE still the best team in the AFC. I hate 'em, but they are still the best.
Not quite. Pittsburgh is better hands down and IMO, with a healthy Manning, so are the Colts.

I am telling you guys, NE has shot its load. Its back into the premordial slime ponds for the Pats man. Many here are too young to remember how much they really sucked and how long of a period of time they sucked. Hoody man is a fraud, always was. Take Brady out of his equation and his team blows. Their pass defense is on a friggin heart and lung machine and by game 5 Haynesworth will be sucking on half gallons of Hagan Daaz on the sideline and Hoodys experiment blows up in his face. Gotta love it.

This actually plays into our offensive scheme. If we are incorporating more elements of a West Coast scheme, i.e., shorter, quicker passes, this will render their front impotent, regardless of how big they are. Having a player like Reggie Bush really makes our lives easy in this situation as he'll limit the amount of blitzing that the Pats can do, and therefore, it will be contingent on that front 4 to pin their ears back and rush the passer, which is not something they are well cut out for. I think that by the end of the 3rd quarter, you'll be able to run all over them.

NE is built to win in the regular season but lose in the playoffs, they have proven this the last two years losing at home in the 1st round. Brady gives them a chance every year but for some stubborn reason BB doesn't believe in drafting top players just more players and their defense suffers for it.

I put NO in this same boat, their not built to win in the playoffs unless they can hit lightning in a bottle and play in a dome all the way through the playoffs.

Atlanta same deal, Indy same deal. All teams with excellent offenses but defenses that boarderline average. Don't get me wrong, Atlanta could easily win a Superbowl if somehow their defense can find the magic just as NO did in 2009 and Indy did in 2007, they certainly will have the offensive fire power!

The NFC teams are in big trouble because they have to go through GB who has as talented an offense as anyone and a defense that is equally as talented as their offense. They will be looking at multiple Superbowls during the next five years cause of it and to think that they won it this year with all those injuries is down right scary!

Burn me if you'd like but the NYJ and Pitts have had a greater amount of success late because their defenses are built for playoffs and their offenses can muster more then enough points and time possesion. I just hope we can improve our offense enough to become that next NYJ/Pitts that wins with defense and a good offense instead of this great offense with an average defense and lose in the playoffs that a lot of over teams are doing. That's just my humble opinion!

Perfect analogy. In the era of passing offense you still won't win if you don't have a solid and/or opportunistic defense. Having a capable offense with a great defense is a winner much more often then not.

You are such a homer. My god.

I'm pretty sure we have seen 4 man fronts in this defense last year as well. It is New England . . . they get praised for everything . . . they could trade for Chad Henne and the media would spin it as a positive. This truly is no big deal. They still have their fair share of holes on defense.

Big friggin deal. Teams will tear their sorry assss pass defense apart then. LOL, this is getting comical with this NE stuff on their ' WALL OF TERROR ' Its 2011, let them have their fat assses up front. Now let them try to fgure out how to put a pass defense together. When Brady goes away, the Patriots will finally be like that were until he came. SUCKY. they have sucked the entire life of their organization until Brady got there. Like the Jets, a brief blip here and there. Downward spiral of the classless Hoodie and his team starts this season. Watch for it.

I guess u forgot that the pats still went 11-5 two seasons ago when Brady went down. if thats sucking sign me up for some of that. Actually the pats were a better team than we were now even before Brady arrived since 94 they only have two losing seasons which matches our last two years. Belicheck is the best coach in the league and its not all because of Brady. look at last years team it was definately not the most talented team in the league and they still won 14 games.

Yea true a team that went 14-2 just gets too much praise lol. I mean who cares if they have not had a losing season in the last decade its just the media.

So y don't you join them then? Then you can praise them 24/7 without having to deal with the criticism on an enemy site. Unless you enjoy the attention or something. 14-2 doesn't mean jack **** unless you do something in the playoffs . . . you can spin that anyway you want to.

well i will take 14-2 and lose in first round to 7-9 any year but Im a dolphin fan so I must suffer through another idiotic coaching staff. just because Im a dolphin fan does not mean Im blind to a team with a better coach and organization. i dont have to spin anything any kind of way they have won 3 superbowls this decade while we cant even win a playoff game but possibly once in a decade and Im supposed to feel like yea they suck because they went 14-2 and lost in first round.

Please, I didn't say they suck, I said they are praised for "everything" they do and people who would normally call a move idiotic would spin that same move in a positive light if the Patriots made the move. So what they have been a better organization than ours the past decade . . . they had a good run and a good string of luck picking up Brady in the 6th round. I'm not going to be hanging on their coattails because they do good in the regular season and fall in the postseason. And this is a new decade, they haven't won **** this decade . . . and that defense that carried them through the playoffs those Super Bowl runs is long gone.

They are known cheaters and they play in our division, I don't have to admire a damn thing they do and I don't care to be called a realist on a fan site to prove being impartial in regards to football. Sure, I think Brady is a great QB . . . I think Belichek has earned the title of being one of the best coaches in the NFL . . . but I could care less for the Patriots team as a whole. They aren't a godsend and I wish some people would stop treating them that way. Godsends don't go 14-2 and lose convincingly to a team with an inferior QB, at home, in the playoffs.

I never said they were a godsend and if u think the partiots were the only team to break the rules then u live in a dream world. I could care less for any team as a whole besides my team but there is no doubt that with belicheck the pats are always very good. look at last years roster and tell me they have a 14-2 team. we probably had more overall telent than they had yet Belichek gets the most out of his team while the better team saprano has he seems to get worse results. 10 straight winning seasons with 3 superbowl wins gets u that respect whether u like it or not.
