Math to the Draft: TEs - Fleener v. Allen

Great post,,,,but we can get a better Tight End in Round 3 in LaDarius Green from Louisiana-Lafayette. He has size, speed, great hands, and just needs a great QB to take him to the elite level.

I would disagree with that. Green is light and played at a lower level of competition. I don't think he is in the same class as Fleener or Allen. Neither do most of the draft "experts". This is not a slam on Green, and I would like him later (at the right spot) in the draft as a project.

If Miami is looking for a seam buster (which I think they are) . . . Fleener is your guy. How much of an upgrade is Allen from Charles Clay with 1 year of NFL experience?

Fleener IMO is more of a WCO TE.

He & Bess work the middle and underneath would really open up things for Gates & Hartline as well as the running game.

Fleener lined up in multiple positions & was used alot in motion. I have not seen many Clemson games and wonder if Allen was used similarly??

Fleener ran a 4.47 so he can definitely run the deep routes faster and is essentially a fast WR in a TEs body that you can split out and for S or LB to come out with him. He will be the cause of other WRs getting open. Of course we would have to trade down and try to get an additional second round pick which would also be a good thing.

I prefer Allen. Also Philbin has continually stated that he wants a TE would can block and catch, in my mind Allen is ideal and would be a steal in 2nd. If you look at his stats in combine he is a little bit slower than Gronk but lifted more. Gronk man handles people and I would love to have a TE doing same. I think Allen is the man........although I would take Sanu in 2nd :)
