Mathis?

I do this deal in a heartbeat. Look at his PFf stats the last five years for Pete's sake. Heck yes!

Please no, If we kept our third or even 5th that I think he could be had for, we can still get a player that can be as good as Mathis. Not to mention the player will be at least 6 years younger. We need to keep our picks this year and not invest in older retreads. We already have one in Albert.

That's how New England won their superbowls right? By trading 3rd round picks in a very deep draft for a player that maybe has 2 years left and a hefty contract right? Draft a guard in the 2nd who has potential to live up to Mathis's ability and pay him 1/5th of his price. Build a team through the draft, don't trade it for old players. I can see a 5th but not a 3rd plus he want more than his 5 mil salary. These have got to be eagles fans that are posting about giving up a 3rd round pick because no dolphin fan in their right mind would want to give up a 3rd round pick that turns 33 during the season who wants around 7 mil a year for the next 3 years...

I see your point, however I still would do this deal considering our current line situation. Counting on three rookies starting right away is too difficult in my opinion. In this specific case, getting a pro bowl veteran guard to go with Albert and pouncey would immediately stabilize the line and allow for a MUCH easier transition for the Two rookies which we Will draft. New England doesn't add three new rookies to their line. They build on a foundation with veterans who can guide the newbies along. Btw, Shelly smith is good depth not a starter and a pretty good ESPN reporter as we'll.

Wharton would be 2-3 mil cheaper and graded out almost as good as Mathis plus won't cost any picks. Much better option for a stop gap.

3rd rounder?? NO WAY... if at some point during the draft, we look at the picks we have made and find that it is more valuable to have him on the roster rather than have a potential (5, 6, or 7th) round rookie, then yes I would totally support a Mathis trade. But for a 3rd rounder- HELL NO.

I'm good with that. Can we get him though?

Don't see why not, nobody's really contacted him. Paying 6-7 mil for a guard could potentially put us in cap trouble next year as well

We have fantastic luck in the draft. i agree. odds that we can get a all pro lineman out of a 3rd round pick is insane. NFL means Not for Long. Win as soon as you can at any and all times. Mathis would instantly help us. who knows i the third round pick can even get on the field.

Wait until he is cut or offer a low pick, they want him off hte books, we can afford him. Its a match made in heaven. We can send a 5th just to sercure his services, they want him gone they know they wont get any high picks unless a contender is desperate.

5th round pick or forget it. Sign him to a 3 year contract with 2 years guaranteed. Dont give up a high pick for him. Save the high picks. we need to fill positions with the top 4 picks.

They want him off the books? Says who? You get your reports from La Canfora? They have 15 mil in cap... He wants to be paid more, eagles don't want to cut him and can afford him. Simply shopping an unhappy player

honestly i think this would be a huge get. he is a freakin ALL-PRO! It would mean we only have 1 hole left on OL, and 3 potential pro bowl or even all pro type players. it would also give some continuity to Lazor, and another veteran presence in the locker room. i'm all for taking the "blood in the water" approach and trying to get him for a 5th, but think about the trash we usually accumulate with our draft picks, in any round. this guy would be an enormous upgrade and could help make our OL a force to be reckoned with, not a pathetic joke as it was last season. ALL FREAKIN PRO, guys. i cant lie and say i've ever really focused on him in games, but i remember Shady running through some enormous holes last year.

or instead of mathis, we could try to draft the next dallas thomas, john jerry or michael egnew to help our blocking.

or we could have the best center-guard tandem in the league, by far.

THOU SHALT NOT deny finitis23 of his Dallas Thomases, and his Michael Egnews, nor his Will Davises and his John Jerrys!!! THOU SHALT HONOR thy Jelani Jenkins, and Dion Sims, and thine Edmond Gates. THOU SHALT NOT TAKE LAMAR MILLER'S NAME IN VAIN! THOU SHALL NOT covet nor steal your opponent's ALL-PRO player at a position of dire need!
