Just watched the full Vikings game on a Game Rewind. This kid pounded us, ran hard, and looks strong as an ox. Runs with power and attitude a la Moreno. Yes, he isn't that fast but he looked to be extremely tough to bring down. Looks like he could be available and the Dolphins need more tough guys on the squad. What would you think about a Miller, Asiata, Williams trio next year?

Matt Asiata rushed for 91 yards on 19 carries and caught two balls for 17 yards in the Vikings' Week 17 win over the Bears.

A fullbackish grinder, Asiata wound up spending most of the 2014 season as Minnesota's feature back due to Adrian Peterson's suspension and Jerick McKinnon's injury. Asiata finished with 164 carries for 570 yards (3.48 YPC) and ten all-purpose touchdowns, to go with 44 receptions.

Asiata can pass protect and gets what's blocked, and for those reasons he may have a long NFL career. But he isn't a starting-caliber running back. The 27-year-old will be a restricted free agent in March. We suspect the Vikings will tender Asiata at the lowest possible level, or not tender him at all. Dec 28 - 4:37 PM

My dad's a vikings fan and says this guy is a straight bum. I Believe he calls him ASSYiata.

Really? Wow. Well nobody can fill AP's shoes, just like no one could ever fill Marino's.

I'll take your dads word though...he just seemed be a Csonka type runner last week. He looked passionate out there.

He steam rolled Jenkins, Wheeler, and Misi a few times.

I think Asiata is more suited as a FB. Short yardage guy. I think at the beginning of the season he had a knack for finding the endzone and then kind of disappeared.

Just about anybody on this board can steam roll Wheeler. Or at least juke him.

Yeah he looked good against us and one other time this year but overall nothing to break bread over. Dude can't even block good enough so he wouldn't even be a good fullback

Now Chad Greenway at lb. Now I would entertain that idea.

asiata is more of a short yardage back not a full time RB. the Vikings were most effective in the run game when jerrick McKinnon was the rb from the 10-10 then let asiata punch it in. if you expect a short yardage back to pick up where AP left off your crazy. He did a good job and what he should have been doing.

ehhh i think i can do more dynamic than that even in the mid rounds maybe even the late ones

Asiata is one of those guys who are good to have on the team, but you don't go out and look for him. I think we already have a better back in Williams, Miller certainly. No...there's better ways to spend money.

I would prefer drafting a back in round 2, or even tab Duke Johnson if he's available. Him and Miller would provide some serious pop

Absolutely not. I live up here in MN and have to watch them pretty much every week. He's good for 2-4 yards and can pass block and catch a few passes. But he never will break a big one for a TD or be a true threat with teams designed to stop the run. The only reason he stayed the starter for them was because everyone they tried replacing him with failed miserably. Look elsewhere for a RB if you really need one. Since we don't utilize a FB, not an option.

I don't think we should put too much stock on any player or players who looked good against us this year. This is a down year for our defense so I won;t take any player who looked good against us very seriously.
