How refreshing was it to see the defense finally blitz from multiple looks? We knew we were not getting sacks for a while now. Why does it take so LONG for the coaches to make changes on this team?

These same blitzes possibly would have frustrated Tom Brady.

The coaches need to ramp up their ability to adapt. The bus is taking too long to round the goddamn corner and it is evident in EVERYTHING they do. This is why when things go wrong, it is game over for Miami.

Baker vs the Bengals:
33 snaps (55%) (Why was Baker only on the field for 33 snaps?!)
2 sacks
6 tackles (2 tackles for loss)

He's played well. That speed helps.

I think it was very well executed especially with the loss of Wake which begs the question, did Wake's absence help? :ponder:

One unknown. Has Burke been avoiding blitzes because that's his preference, or has Gase been nixing them?

It makes things that much sullen this today.
The Bengals couldn't beat our defense.
They needed our offense to turn the ball over.

Gase has to understand that.
You CANNOT turn the ball over on the road.

Let the Bengals beat us the hard way by earning it against our defense.

Gase does understand it. He acknowledged that the Defense played well and he attributed the loss to the Offense.
I thought that our young Defensive players are really beginning to gel. Fitzpatrick, McMillan, Baker, Taylor and Godchaux all had pretty good games. While this was a game we should not have lost, the biggest positive coming out of it for me was the collective progress by the Defense. We have heard many times about the very high football intelligence and strong work ethic of McMillan and Fitzpatrick and we are seeing it on the field.

He DOESN'T understand that because as a head coach he would have made sure a Bengals win meant they had to defeat that defense.
He DOESN'T understand that because as a head coach he would have made sure the offense DIDN'T give them a T/O.
He DOESN'T understand that because as a head coach he would have given the ball to Gore/Drake for the majority of the 2nd half.
He DOESN'T understand that because as a head coach he should have known his personnel and theirs and realized back-up OLmen vs. their DLmen is a formula for disaster trying to pass the ball.

Didn't see the game, but from posts here, Gase didn't call the pass on 3rd down. Likely a run was called.
Uncertain what a HC can do to prevent any individual TO.
Passing the ball doesn't always equate to the QB holding the ball 3 seconds (e.g., NE).
Not a fan of Gase as OC, but "understanding" and willing something to happen are different animals.
I agree, when ahead by 17, run the clock.
His key lack of understanding is 31 teams take advantage of mismatches starting 1Q. There's a reason for that.

You don't think a HC can minimize the chances of a T/O by leaning more on running the ball compared to throwing it with 3-4 OLmen down vs. a stout pass rushing team?

Okay, sure!

OP - I completely agree this was refreshing to see. I told my son while we were watching, that the loss of D Lineman resulted in creativity to get to the QB, which worked FAR better than just sending 4, even when 2 of them are vaunted pass rushers. They aren't getting to the QB, but the blitzers did all day long.

Agreed and IDK but MAYBE this should be the Dolphins defensive identity going forward. Let the young guys use their speed to blitz from different looks.

Absolutely. Think about it - did you ever imagine #55 getting a sack this year? He got 2, and nearly got 1-2 more. Want to see that, or want to see Harris getting man handled and losing contain all damn day?

I know, I mean how in the hell can Gase tell Ryan to ping that biscuit off the dome of that d-lineman.
