I don’t understand last week I seen a report he was expected to stay with Pitt as OC, now I’m heading there interviewing Pep Hamilton among others. If that’s true why haven’t we hired Canada yet I think he is one of best options left outside of Ken Dorsey from buffalo. Thought they wanted to get this hiring done rather quickly not sure what’s the hold up, hire from within or go grab somebody

The situation with him is still sketchy. They interviewed Hue Jackson too. If I'm him I move on to Miami asap.

Reports of Matt Canada being the next Steelers offensive coordinator might have been premature:

Probably have to follow the Rooney Rule which is why they're interviewing Hue Jackson I think he'll get the job there though

Why did you think "they" wanted it done quickly?

I've heard no such statement from the organization.

What's your rush. Better to get it right, than fast, IMO.

I can't imagine any outsider would take that job without known what Ben is planning on doing. Take all the pain Lafleur went through in Green Bay and amplify it with a QB who is clearly well over the hill and its hard to see someone looking to make a name for themselves jumping at the opportunity.

Do not think it applies to coordinator positions. Also if they are only doing it for that reason why interview Pep Hamilton?

Named after the late Dan Rooney – former owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers and chairperson of the National Football League’s (“NFL”) diversity committee – the Rooney Rule is a NFL policy that requires teams to interview ethnic-minority candidates for head coaching and senior football operation jobs (e.g., general manager).

Well they did just pick up Dwayne Haskins :ponder:

It now applies to coordinators as well. Also Hamilton is black.

I feel they have already promoted from within but aren't saying anything to media(especially local)after releasing article that players not backing Tua. Flo wants a tight ship and this is his way of letting them know to stay in line! Slap in their face of where r your sources now??.

Not sure if I agree. If they were promoting from within that would have happened already IMO. My sense is that they may be waiting on someone currently in the playoffs or have already offered someone interviewing with multiple teams and are waiting for an answer. My personal preference is to hire someone from the outside with new ideas and a history of developing young QBs. Pep Hamilton would be a great fit.

I agree for the outside hire. But there r only a few left that I would b interested in. Or maybe Senior Bowl is a showcase for 1 of the internals to show how they teach and install the O. But it is all speculation right now because Flo keeps everything low key until he wants u to know.
