When free agency started it was assumed he would get a huge 50 mil salary and there would be many teams chasing him.
NOPE Chad Henne and Orton both were in more demand and signed good contracts as back ups.
Flynn has played 2 games where as the other guys have starter experience.
Cleveland and Seattle expressed interest but as a back up or to compete with the guys they have now.
I'm not advocating Flynn but if all else failsl we can get him at a discount i believe.
Thoughts ?

Part of why they got signed already is that they're known quantities and Flynn could be good.

[Removed by Mod] He's said repeatedly that he's waiting for Peyton to sign, and that's going to be the negotiating basis for his contract. And you're right, Orton and Henne are in demand, AS BACKUPS!

This is why I hate the Flynn-haters, because they ignore inconvenient facts just to suit their Moore-loving or Hennehill-loving agenda whose sole purpose is to line the pockets of Mr. Ross and that idiot no-soul ginger Ireland.

Dude calm down. The OP was just saying Flynn's not getting much hype thus far.

Flynn only has had two starts but I liked what I saw him do against Detroit. I replayed the game on my DVR...he had the greatest game ever by a Packer QB in terms of yardage/TD's. He has played in really big games at LSU, and has had time to learn Green Bay's system. I think Philbin should know whether or not he can be a franchise QB. If I am Flynn I would not go to Cleveland or Seattle if I could play for a coach who knows me and what I am able to do, over going to a whole new system.

True that the Browns said, that they aren't interested in Flynn. So they will a QB in the draft. Maybe Tannehill.
But Seahawks had a scheduled meeting with Henne, which is after his signing with the Jags gone. So there is the risk, that they wan't now Flynn.

we tried and tried and tried for a few months now to bring the flynatics to reason but nope!!!

they should have figured it out when he wasnt franchised by gb. all the flynatics talk about, "well, philbin knows him best and if he wants him than thats our guy, WHOOOPIEEEEE!!!!!"

well, philbin wasnt the only coach on that team and they all knew flynn as much or more as philbin. as i wrote on this board SEVERAL times over the last week, qb is a PREMIUM position and even the mediocre ones get big attention and BIG bux. and, if a team has a way to get draft pics for them, they do!!

and as i said, GB [like all teams do] sent feelers out to test the flynn market and it wasnt good at all. the hype wasnt what they had hoped after that FLUKE 6 td game and they were getting no pics. no one was real interested, no one wanted him as a starter or for starting money. and rightfully so, he isnt anything of note.

but, that doesnt seem to be detering the flynatics. they have some true believers and are ready to burn ireland at the stake feed matt moore to the sharks.

now, he COULD end up here. we do need a qb to back up matt moore. i believe tannehil will be gone by miamis 8th pic and that will maybe cause them to bring him in. they have played the flynn thing smart as flynn now knows the cats out of the bag and hes not getting bank. ireland knows he can get him el cheapo if they want to bring him in and flynn will definately want to be in a comfortable offense with a familiar coach.

i would like to hope some folks learned a valuable lesson, but, the flynatics still have some torches burning!!

their good for a chuckle if nothing else.

Philbin knows best....thats why we haven't signed him.

WELL BUB, you obviously are not keeping up with the facts or watching espn or nfl network because they are ALL saying NO TEAM has offered flynn a STARTING job, NO ONE!! so far the only interest [which has been slim] has been for depth only with no big money. THOSE are the FACTS. sorry that hurts you so, but it it appears YOU are the one IGNORING facts.

did you ever ask yourself, if he was this great, promising qb as you think, why didnt GB franchise him? if teams felt he was a true starting qb, they would have done it and got a pic or two. they didnt. and as the sports networks have pointed out, when GB tested the market for him, it WASNT GOOD! no one would touch him for pics or big money. so they let him walk!

those are the FACTS. right or wrong, thats how it is. no one is interested in him as a starter!! we are several days into f/a and he would be long, long gone by now if he was the talent you believe he is.

and YOU have become the HATER by ignoring the FACTS, as their being reported and calling out posters who are paying attention to whats REALLY happening and not living in an nfl fantasy land.

yes! henne went first, orton went first, as backups. that because thats what they are. all teams want flynn for is as a BACKUP, and he so far is last in line in the backup qb sweepstakes.

DOH!!!

I watched the Youtube highlights of his two games, first vs Patriots, and second against the Lions. As far as the Pats game, he seemed to be under a lot of pressure, but handled himself pretty nicely. It was his first game against a tough team, but I think he held his own. Nothing that jumps out at you. As far as the Lions game, I couldn't help but notice, the td passes seemed to be more a product of the talent level of the players he was throwing too. He'd throw a screen, or a little dump off pass, and the receiver would do the rest. Still, nothing to really get excited over. His deep passes looked like, more or less, up for grab throws, although his accuracy was above average, I'd say. The bottom line is, don't worry about Flynn. We have the inside track because of Philbin. Philbin knows what kind of guy he is. He knows his work ethic, and what his intelligence level is, so I'm not worried. If we get him, fine. If not, I have to think Philbin wasn't that impressed with him in GB.

Its alot of things. But the market is getting cheaper quicker. This market has changed and rookie cap is one reason. Tannehill is another. Kirk Cousins is another. Teams need competition. Including us. Matt Moore did a fine job for us last year. Just get him some more OL and Wr's who dont throw the QB under the bus.

I wont lie, I don't know a lot about Flynn. I like what I have seen, however the hype around him is frighteningly reminiscent of Billy Volek. The big number, system specific back up that leaves desperate teams wet in the panties.

I believe the market is telling him he needs to prove that he can play at a high level over 16 games. He will probably get a short back loaded 3/4 year 20-28 mil deal. It's a nice pay increase and if he performs it's short enough to get the next huge contract.

That's how I see it.
