Matt Flynn coming back to earth

so what i'm reading is because chad henne and kyle orton signed for backup money and matt flynns got the seahawks and possibly us he's only talking to his contract is gonna be backup money level??? is that what i'm really reading??? the nfl has pegged henne and orton as backup caliber players...if seattle brings in flynn its not to compete with sorry *** tavaris jackson nor would it be in miami with matt moore...

ha ha...so cause you haven't heard any contract #'s now the kids not gonna get good money in the market...i've heard em all now...

Who do you want as quarterback then?

Manning, but I doubt that happens so I would roll with Moore. I am sorry, but Flynn and his two games subbing in a high powerd established offense doesn't warrant 50 mil and our future!

A couple things are in play here. First is that Flynn did not get the kind of attention many thought he would. This probably has something to do with his limited experience, and in Miamis case, the fact that the Manning chase has gone a bit longer than most thought it would. I for one think that Flynn is a good option if brought in to COMPETE, but not as a starter who we give too much money to. And then there is the crazy idea that miami is actually trying to play things a little smarter than they have in the past. Couple all of this with Philbins insight as Flynns OC and the fact that Moore is an inexpensive and at least a decent option at QB this year, and I think that there is a good chance that Miami has interest but will proceed with caution. This is called intelligent thinking. Which is more than I can say for some of the posters on here who have no real opinions and are pessimistic idiots who should go to the Jets boards where they will fit in immediately.

Amen!

I'd take Flynn at a discounted rate

Otherwise use that money on Eric Winston, Ryan Tannehill and the rest of the draft

Apparently Henne signed in the range of 3.5-4 million per year. That's not really backup money.

i think what you should do op is wait and see what kind of contract he does get before you go off about how much money he won't...cause i'm not buying any 4 year $25 mil stuff at all...and in the event that he does actually sign for that low a # miami should be all over it cause financially there is no risk cap wise...if he pulls that low a contract the guaranteed money probably doesn't exceed even $10 mil...i'll believe the top available free agent qb in free agency signs for those low #'s when pigs fly

he's competing with hot garbage for the starting job so i can see him getting a bit of a bump maybe but i bet some of that money is incentive performance based...and anyways average starting nfl qb money is more in the $6 mil or so range...so yeah thats pretty much high end backup money

if flynn gets $4 mil a year i'm a monkeys uncle...

Flynn won't get more than 5 mil per season. No one in their right mind is going to throw at him Starting QB salary. Fiedler has better arm than this guy. I know arm strength is not everything especially on WCO but this dude lacks zip on his throws. I wouldn't mind bringing him in at discount price to compete with Moore although, I would much rather use the money on Eric Winston.

sig bet says he does get better than $5 mil per...if miami and seattle are competing for his services after the manning thing gets done there's what flynn needs to drive up the price...anyways i'm betting the price right now even if he's being brought in to be a starter either in seattle or here is more than $5 mil per

i'll say this though...guys seem to be signing shorter term contracts this year than many prior...i mean the most years i've seen on anything has been 5 years...used to be big time free agent guys you could see 7 year contracts etc...car nicks signing a 5 year $47 mil deal is pretty much equivalent to signing a 7 year $63 mil one but i always bought into guys signing longer term contracts to get more guaranteed money and some guys seem to be betting on themselves more this year than in the past wish short term deals...paul solia etc

Probably from Bayonne, right?

Yeah, if being a schmuck is all they can pin on you in Bayonne, your most likely a decent guy.

Believe it was Tinton Falls.

And that's in monmouth county which is the wealthiest in the state. Schmuck is a fightin word there. John Nalbone is a schmuck. ( we drafted him a few years ago from little ole' Monmouth U )

did you ever ask yourself, if he was this great, promising qb as you think, why didnt GB franchise him?

Wow, you think teams just franchise their backup QBs like willy-nilly, especially a team that already has Aaron Rodgers? You must be insane. Do you realize how high a franchise tag for a QB is? Probably $18 million.

if teams felt he was a true starting qb, they would have done it and got a pic or two.
How so? He's a free agent!

they didnt. and as the sports networks have pointed out, when GB tested the market for him, it WASNT GOOD! no one would touch him for pics or big money. so they let him walk!

Link or it didn't happen.

those are the FACTS. right or wrong, thats how it is. no one is interested in him as a starter!! we are several days into f/a and he would be long, long gone by now if he was the talent you believe he is.

Name another starting QB who has been signed as of yet. EVERYONE is waiting on Peyton to stop dragging his feet!

and YOU have become the HATER by ignoring the FACTS, as their being reported and calling out posters who are paying attention to whats REALLY happening and not living in an nfl fantasy land.

Like I said, link or it didn't happen. That's what I hate about the Flynn-haters, they NEVER provide proof for their hatred! Boy, is this reminding me of the arguments I had with the Gusketeers! Arguments of which I was ultimately proved RIGHT!

5 mill for 4 years is 20 mill. A month ago people est Flynn would get 50 mil. The only point of this thread was than his price has come down. Hoop's is right. He will get more than Henne or Ortin. Just will not get francise QB price tag of 10 mil plus a year.

If we get him so be it but the numbers for his service has come down and 5 to 6 million would be a bargin.

I'm sorry, the jets board is called gang-green and they are expecting your membership. This is all opinion and for you to call someone an ignoramus and not happy with anything here, go somewhere else

OK, you want me to give proof that the OP is ignorant (I guess I have to use that word now, since IGNORAMUS is apparently an insult):

There, happy? More than the Flynn-haters can provide.
