to Coach Philbin.

I see people saying, "what makes Flynn better than Moore or Henne?" "Is it worth the risk?".

Well, Flynn may be an unknown to us and most of the league, but not to Philbin. He has seen him more than ANYONE over the past few years. If Philbin is willing to stake his entire career on this guy, you have to be onboard with it. Philbin seems like a smart guy, so I don't see him risking his career in a guy he didn't think had "it".

Bottom line, if we end up with Flynn, fans should be excited because it means the guy who has evaluated him the most closely believes in his abilities to become an elite QB in the league.

Good points, my feelings exactly. Not every quarterback can plate the West Coast offense.

Yep - we should hope Flynn ends up here bc it would mark he is the real deal - no way phil in signs off on him if he isnt. And no way does Ireland sign him if phil in doesn't give the green light. There's actually no reason for us to debate if Flynn is good or not - if he is, we get him - if he's not, we don't.

IF MIAMI OFFERS FLYNN a BIG contract, for 5 seasons, then it will be a POWERFUL endorsement of him by Coach PHILBIN. And THAT is what would be required for me to have any trust in FLYNN at all. The only other "measuring stick", for me, is regular season games played. FLYNN's resumee there is just too thin.

College is irrelevant: the NFL is a different universe.

"Practice" isn't worth much: it's something, but not nearly enough.

And preseason is almost as irrelevant as college, especially when you're talking about a back-up QB, who will face opponents who will be flipping burgers after Labor Day.

Matt Flynn has thrown 9 TDs in 34 games. 6 of those TDs were in one game.

I have sat here and laughed at the "no to Flynn" crowd and the "he's the next Kevin Kolb" crowd. I think I'll trust the evaluation of Philbin whos worked with him everyday since he was drafted. If we sign him he's for real.

You are right. I posted before that we don't have to know or wonder if Flynn is good enough. If he ends up on the team it's because Philbin thinks he is. If he doesn't try to get him that should send a message to the rest of the teams.

with 5 picks and and 3 fumbles (2 lost) and 19 yards on 31 rush attempts. not being a debbie downer just saying.. and in that 6 td game he had 2 picks, 1 lost fumble and 5 sacks & -6 yds on 13 rushes?? but also a rushing TD. so in total 7 TDs and 3 turnovers in that game and took 5 sacks

lets see if the raiders take a look at him, that also will be a telling tale.

Well, sure. So until Philbin DOES stake his career on Flynn, it's a little premature to be screaming one's little head off for Flynn, no?

There aren't many options. Its either Flynn, or a rookie. Manning will retire.

Flynn and his agent should be Tebowing that Philbin will want to pursue him.

If that turns out NOT to be the case, it'll cost them multi-$millions. Could there be a bigger indictment on his abilities than the guy who knows him best, needs to jet propel his fledgling HC career and needs a franchise QB looks the other way.

and i myself will be Tebowing that the members of this site will support the decision either way.

If Flynn does come to Miami..is he the 1st round/Franchise QB that most Fins Fans were screaming we needed??
