Matt Flynn is NOT an unknown...

Let me see, if I could pick one guy to assess the next hot qb free agent prospect, I'd like it to be the offensive coordinator that has worked closely with and developed him for years, all the while immersing him in the exact offense we will be running here. It would also be good if the the guy making the assessment had the success or failure of his entire career riding on the decision.

I for one will be ecstatic if we get Flynn, not because of what I think of him, but because it means the guy that knows his abilities best is willing to bet his professional future on him!

Matt Flynn has thrown 9 TDs in 34 games. 6 of those TDs were in one game.

Actually a better way to measure him is: With only 2 starts, he has 82 completions from 132 attempts (62.1%) for 1015 yards 9 TDs to 5 INTs.....a 92.8 QB rating

I said this before...I don't see the risk because Philbin knows him better than anybody. If Philbin has doubts about him he will not pursue him.

That's what people arent seeing......... And that's one of the advantages we have. The Miami Dolphins know more about Matt Flynn than any team not the Packers. And they also know more about Ryan Tannehill than anyone else in the NFL.
If we go in one of those directions, we should be excited at the possibilites.

Bottom line, if we end up with Flynn, fans should be excited because it means the guy who has evaluated him the most closely believes in his abilities to become an elite QB in the league.

That's what I am saying.

I, personally, am not into the Flynn deal. I don't know, but I just have a bad feeling.

Look at it this way....remember this quote from the character 'FROST' in a movie I'll let a few fans of it recall...:

"I got a bad feeling about this drop."

"Frost, you always say that..."Man, I've got a bad feeling about this drop."

"OK, then. When we get back without you, I'll call your folks."

Anyway, what makes me feel better is that our head coach should be capable of knowing what this kid is all about and if he should put his first Head Coaching job on the line for him (which he'll technically do if he signs him to a huge deal).

Makes no sense..He rarely passed in any of those mop-up situations. He was coming in with big leads, mostly handing the ball off. When he was given the chance to play, he excelled.

with 5 picks and and 3 fumbles (2 lost) and 19 yards on 31 rush attempts. not being a debbie downer just saying.. and in that 6 td game he had 2 picks, 1 lost fumble and 5 sacks & -6 yds on 13 rushes?? but also a rushing TD. so in total 7 TDs and 3 turnovers in that game and took 5 sacks

nope he only had one pick in that game.

All the analysis is great, BUT ...

Flynn will choose a team that will benefit him!! Even if he got a million/year less (& he won't) on a good team ... putting up big numbers & winning will make him worth multi-millions in the near future.

And that would be a SF. Davis & Crabtree to throw to ... a bruising runnning game ... and a stiflin Defense to hide your mistakes & get you the ball back quick, often with field position.

THAT's my CONCERN ... not a bunch of owner money & some cap space for a look-see!! How are we going to lure Flynn?? Signing with us will probably cost Flynn money, even if we bid highest!!

Me ... I want Flynn & a QB Draft Pick & a couple undrafted Free Agent QBs ... we NEED a QB & must look at all we can until we get one. I just think it will be tough for us to sign a FA ... same goes for Manning or anyone else that has a "good" QB reputation.
