I am happy with hiring Philbin as our new head coach. He was the best of the 3 candidates, but I also realized that the Flynn talk would come with it and that's the part that bothers me.

Flynn has 2 good games and he's being hyped as a starter. Reminds me so much of Kolb. A product of a good system thats all. If Philbin is indeed the "system" then we can do better than Flynn.

I say we stay on task and keep Matt Moore and move up to draft a QB this year.

very possible.

what i will say is that this where having philbin is 2-fold

not only can he bring him in if hes the guy, but he will tell us if he isnt' so you have to figure if philbin brings him in that philbin beleives he is the guy to run this offense.

its a win-win in my opinion.

also got to remember that we wont have to trade unlike AZ did with kolb.

also - unlike Philly, GB seems to produce quality back up qbs who become starters.

still though, i agree, people need to stop talking about flynn and worry about what philbin plans to do with the guys we have for now.

we got a new coach so far, new qb not yet.

First, Kolb Played decent but inconsistent when he was on the field for the Eagles, where Flynn has played at a high level in his 2 starts. If you watch video of the two there are very few similarities.

Second, Flynn would be playing in the same system he played in which Kolb isn't. Big difference.

The only real similarities are that both were back ups in good systems and became Free Agents. Don't project Flynns ability based on Kolbs work.

Ken Wizzenhunt had no previous work with Kevin Kolb. You can say that he didn't really know what he was getting. Philbin will know what he is getting, so if he thinks Flynn is the guy that's good enough for me.

Absolutely no similarities other than both backups in a WCO system. AZ doesn't run a WCO so that definitely didn't help Kolb's growth. Miami will (FINALLY) run a WCO so Flynn should theoretically be comfortable in this offense

As the poster above mentioned, we don't have to send a 1st round pick to or any players to Green Bay for his services and for this reason alone I think it's worth brining him in.

I've maintained all along that no matter how great a 2 game sampling might be, it's still way too limited on which to wager precious time, momentum and continuity, not to mention backing up the Brinks Truck

... UNLESS we ended up hiring Joe Philbin and he was in favor of launching a fledgling HC career, which often turns out to be tentative and short-lived by signing up Flynn to be his QB..

Unlike with any other HC we might have ended up signing, I would feel comfortable with Flynn considering Philbin's willingness to hook his own HC wagon to his up close and personal evaluation of him.

I agree, the situation for us is different. Our new HC has worked with Flynn so he knows what he would be getting if we signed him. Also, we do not have to trade for him, and our offense more or less will probably be the same as the Packers run, a West Coast Hybrid. Not to mention I hope we make a run for Clements as the OC, and things could turn around very quickly down in South Beach.

Kolb was AJ FEELEY 2.0 to me, and he was a viable option last offseason and I was heavily against it. Flynn has played nothing like him, and if you want to credit the WR corps, get blackmon some how. Then its pretty beastly.

We need a mobile QB like Flynn and a late Henne. Henne when he scrambled the 2 games he did looked good! Flynn scrambles and gambles (walt frazier voice)

How mobile is Flynn? Like 4.7 speed? Ive only seen his start against NE last year.

Agree totally. I don't blame fans for being optimistic but this just shows how Qb starved this team is. Everyones giddy about a unproven backup that had a good showing in a meaningless game. There even going as far as to comparing him to Dan Marino. No matter what Philbin thinks if I'm the Gm I'm shooting for the stars and getting the dolphins a top tier Qb in this years draft. IMO Flynn to the dolphins reeks failure maybe not at first because of the soft schedule. But eventually he'll show why he was picked in the 7th round and we will all be 3 years older starting from scratch.
