I know Moore went 2-1 for the 08 7-9 Panthers, 4-1 when he took over the 4-7 09 Panthers to finish .500. He sucked it up winning only 1 game out of 5 for the 10 Panthers which still represented half their victories in 35% of their starts. Bracket that against an upgraded Carolina team with a fresh coach in 11 where with more resources, Cam Newton started out 1-5 and 2-10. Moore also was one of the more accurate 25 or more yard passers in the league last season. Flynn's arm has been criticised and that was a rap against him coming out of LSU.
Long way to get to the point: Flynn has looked unbelievable, although his first impressive game vs the 10 Pats was less impressive than Moore's 09 win vs Favre's playoff bound Vikes. I'd love to get that guy.. if I was sure he was THAT guy!. But the fact is, Flynn did it as a plug in for an offensive juggernaut who won 78% of their games those 2 seasons of his 2 starts, unlike Moore who generally did more with less, including this past season. I'd feel a lot more comfortable with Flynn if he put up performances like Moore did for a subpar team than his lights out single performance against a porous Detroit D backfield on behalf of a 15-1 unit.
Still if Philbin wants him, I support it, but I still don't know that he's necessarily better than what we've already got.
