Matt Flynn

Packers message boards are talking about the prospects of GB franchising Flynn, then trading him to Miami for a 2nd round pick. I can't imagine GB doing that when it would make his salary jump that substantially.

If that happens, skip on the trade and pick up Finley and we wouldnt have to draft a tackle. Unfortunatly i see Finley franchised.

As for Flynn goes, i feel comfortable picking up a back up QB when the coach is coming with him. Philbin has been in the NFL long enouogh to know a coachs job is linked with his QBs success and he knows Flynn better than me so if he is up for the risk who am i to argue.

If he is not franchised and all he costs is cash, go for it. If he fails, we cut our losses (no picks) and try again next year.

If he is franchised (like Cassell) so GB could get a pick for him, then I am not so sure if he is worth giving up an asset and then paying. Thats where it gets difficult.

Like others have said, if Philbin feels strongly enough about Flynn to where he'd link his own success to Flynn's as his starting QB, then that's enough for me... the guy has seen Matt Flynn throw thousands of footballs, I'm sure he has a strong opinion of him one way or the other, only time will tell

and a plus, if Philbin does endorse him and he comes, not only will he obviously know the offense and won't have to learn a new playbook, but he'll be able to bring the other qb's up to speed quicker and even other members of the offense..that way hopefully after OTA's and heading into TC, most of the offense will be installed and hopefully looking pretty decent, as opposed to learning an entire offense and having to wait until halfway through the season before the players are catching on...just thinking outloud

No differance than taking a risk on Flynn than any of the rookie qbs in the draft except that if Flynn came here he wouldnt have as hard of a time adjusting because he would already know whats going on with the coaching and game planning such.
