Matt Flynn:

Career stats: about 1000 yards passing, 9TDs, 5 INTs, 92 QBR

Not bad, but do a couple of good NFL games warrant throwing money and/or draft picks at this guy? Were there not reasons why he lasted until the 7th round of the 2008 draft? I hate to say it because it's so obvious, but does anyone remember AJ Feeley? Wasn't there supposed to be a lesson learned there about desperately throwing draft picks and/or money at a QB with a very limited track record? Is anyone certain that he's better than Matt Moore, and wouldn't bringing in Matt Flynn at a hefty cost potentially cause some major issues?

Joe Philbin is most likely a Matt Flynn guy for obvious reasons- Mike McCoy, having coached Matt Moore in Carolina, would most likely have chosen to stick with him as opposed to making a big play for Flynn . If Flynn could be brought in at a reasonable price and compete with Moore, that's fine with me. But one good game does not a QB make- if we end up coughing up a high draft pick to Green Bay or throwing a ton of money at Flynn, I'll have some serious doubt as to whether or not that's a smart direction to go in.

I don't believe you should compare Flynn to Feely or any other past QB for that matter. If we brought Flynn in, he would ALREADY be in a system that he is comfortable with. Philbin knows him best out of all the people now on the Dolphins staff. He should be able to know if Flynn has the talent or not, I mean he is the HC now. Flynn is a gamble, but a move for Flynn could cause for high rewards. We will never know if we don't, and for a franchise that has had its share of disappointmeants from QB's since the Marino era, I say we pull the trigger one more time, and hope it's the last.

Completely understand what you're saying however, it's wishfull thinking. Unless GB tags Flynn (which is reported not to happen) we won't have to give them **** but he's going to get a Kevin Kolb contract just because that's the way the league works. Like it or not he's a hot name and weather he deserves it or not ( I didn't fee Kolb had deserved it ) he's going to get paid, most likely with a similar clause to Kevin Kolbs contract that allows you to dip out on the player if it's not working out. Also, due to the money don't expect much of a QB battle in MIA if we do get Flynn. He will be the start in that scenario..

We really needed the 400th Matt Flynn thread.

You must be awfully bored to waste your time commenting on it then...

btw I'm reading a George Carlin book now, "When Will Jesus bring the Pork Chops?" Not bad so far.

Philbin knows best. If we make an attempt at getting him, then he is the real deal. If we dont, then he is trash. Philbin knows best.

We need one big *** flynn = feely superthread. Then handout bans for posting it anywhere but that thread.

Equating the two really isn't the point. The point is why would people be dumb enough to throw massive resources at a QB who's had one good game and very little else besides that? Giving Kevin Kolb Kevin Kolb money was stupid. I'm not so sure that giving Matt Flynn, He of the One Good Game, Kevin Kolb money isn't even dumber than the Cardinals throwing money and draft picks after Kolb. Looking at historical mistakes/boners/precendents doesn't mean that you're equating Felley and Flynn. Conclusions like that are the fodder of simple minds.

I understand the point you're trying to make, and believe it or not, I'm not looking for an argument. This same thread has been here so many times already in the past few weeks, and Im willing to bet a brand new one will be here this evening. Im not slamming your opinion...you're entitled to it. It is just one more time that this thread is here.

Fair enough. I actually scanned the first page of the thread before I posted looking for similar threads, but I was mistakenly in the draft thread page, which probably explains it.
