Does anybody remember after the 2000 season when we were really close to getting Matt Hasselbeck? There was some kind of a mix up with the GM's or agents or something which prevented us from getting him. Does anybody remember anything about this? It's driving me crazy. Thanks.

Yes, from what I recall we were so very close to getting Hasselbeck but at the last instant Seattle upped their offer to trade a 1st round pick which was better than our 1st round pick so they got him.

Something like that.We were standing pat on our offer and it took too long to get conversations started again whereupon we were outbidded by the Seahawks if I remember correctly.

Yes, it's truly unbelievable. I tend to watch all the Seahawks games that aren't on at the same time as the Phins games (quite a few being that they are on opposite coasts) and it's really crazy how many balls they drop.

My recollection is that Spielman had to get the go ahead from Wanny and while this was taking place we were out bid.

At the time, Spielman did not have the authority to pull the trigger. There was a delay in getting word from Wannstedt so Hasselbeck went to Seattle. Gee, how convienent that was.....somebody that would have easily put Fiedler on the bench and for some reason Wanny couldnt be reached. Go figure!
