In his first year in south beach, Hazel spent the season on the practice squad with the Dolphins. It was a big adjustment from Coastal Carolina to the NFL. Last year, he suited up and played sparingly but has yet to make a regular season catch. His comfort factor should play a big role this time around.
"I was comfortable last year too, but this year, you know, been doing well in the off season and working hard. A new coaching staff so it's a clean slate for everybody. But I have big expectations for myself so I put more pressure on myself then the outside people do." said Matt Hazel
"Make plays, that's it, make plays. Be versatile, know the whole offense, special teams, and everything will take care of itself. That's what I've learned from the league now. As long as you make plays, someone will see it."

"Someone will see it....." uh oh, sounds like he knows that it may be tough to make the roster, and that he may have to get on with another team....'

Haven't seen him much, but the pre-season plays he made looked quite good. Real smooth, slick, WR with good hands, and some nice wheels....not a super burner, but he can move.

He needs to do something in camp to make the Dolphins "feel" him. He must make himself stand out.

DVP, Landry, Stills, Carroo, Whalen, Grant, Hazel....best WR group we've had in maybe 20 years.

It should be interesting to see who Philbin kept around that Gase gets rid of. It might be very telling, and we might see someone we thought was no good come out and kill it.

Note that Hazel never said "with the Dolphins" like the headline does. Just no room for him, sounds like he knows it, not delusional as the headline suggests.

I'd say the odds are stacked against him. The FO felt the need to draft 2 receivers this year and they will probably both have the upper hand being they are Gase's guys.
Hazel needs to really shine anytime he's on the field or he'll be gone. Good luck to him.

how many WR's doe think we will keep?

I think we keep 6. Landry, Parker, Stills and Carroo are locks. Grant will most likely make it based on his return ability and I think we keep Whalen since Christensen is the "OC" even if he's not calling plays on Sunday.

IMO, Philbin did Hazel one large disservice. Hazel finally got playing time in the last 2-3 games. From memory, he wasn't targeted once. No chance to show anyone what he could do. Of course, Philbin is the guy who only started Parker because he HAD to. Great judge of talent. I'd like to see Hazel make the team but the odds are against him.
Pretty sure Philbin was already fired by then. I mean Philbin only coached 4 games into Parker's rookie season and Parker was hurt the first half of the season.

I stand corrected. Make that Campbell. Matter of fact, I like the way he could get the team to play emotionally, but he still couldn't evaluate talent (Jennings, J Taylor, Mitchell).

If Hazel makes the team...this team hasn't gotten better...

I believe as far as the Dolphins, Hazel is in a bad position, but the good part for the Dolphins is, if he does make the roster in Miami, then he must have been extremely impressive, and if he doesn't, then the good part for Hazel will be, if he still looked good, someone will grab him as quickly as he is being released.
