Matt, just remember you have no chance to start-WTF?

I though Moore was brought in to compete for the starting job, but there is no QB competition????

Especially when Ross himself said:

“We’re going to have the best team that we can put on the field. I don’t know what might happen,” Ross said. “He’ll be competing with someone, I know that. If he’s the best guy that we can find to put in that position, and he’s demonstrated that, I have no problem with that.” - http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sport...ss-says-chad-henne-will-have-competition.html

Now, I believe that Moore must show more than just a decent outing against ATL's backups. BUT for the coaches to basically say Nah, there's no competition going on. WTF?!?!?!

I guess I've been spoiled from the days of having coaches that every offseason would say that no one is safe and everyone's position is up for grabs since we are always looking to get better.

That's what any good organization would say to the media. No team will admit there is a competition at the Qb position because it divides the locker room, media and fans week after week. If Henne has a bad game everyone cries for Moore. If Moore is terrible. We need Henne back and the coaches broke his trust. I'm sure the coaches are going to do what they think gives us a better chance to win. I am almost positive they aren't even going to consider starting Moore unless he plays at an extremely high level though. They will want to make sure there will be no second guessing that decision.

Sparano already started the controversy when he benched Henne last season. If Henne doesn't light it up from the start and continue playing well the fans will show their displeasure quickly.

I don't understand the obsession with moore. I've always felt that Henne has gotten more criticism than he has deserved (not saying by any means that he hasn't deserved his fair share), but when has one preseason game determined who gets the starting job? People would have killed Henne, if he had thrown moore's pick. I want the best qb to lead this team, but lets wait at least two more games before we start throwing Henne under the bus and declaring moore the savior of this team.

I don't think it's an obsession with Moore. Most of us weren't too thrilled bringing him in. Right now he is on the roster and I think you have to go with the old who "gives us the best chance to win". Moore should get some work with the starters in preseason and be given a chance to compete. If Moore can just be a not too bad QB they might have a chance to win some games.

It really pisses me off how lightly the Dolphins take the QB position. Then when playoff hopes are gone in October they are going to wonder what went wrong.

Head coach, owner, and GM are all compromising positions for those three.... we've all seen the pictures already...

Matt Moore will be starting by week 10, probably after Henne gets some mysterious eye injury at halftime

and all those that cheered for him to play will realize by week 12 that he is nothing special either.

if Henne continues to struggle a lot in preseason, you can't just expect that come opening day he's all of a sudden going to play better. I'm willing to see past the first preseason game, given the fact of the lockout and shortened practice time and all that... fine. But, by preseason game #2 this week, we need to see something resembling progress from Henne. Even if he doesn't throw for a TD, just no turnovers, finish a couple drives for scores and convert some 3rd downs.

If we see a repeat performance this week from him, and Moore has another solid outing, I don't see how you could not consider the position up for grabs. You have too, the rest of the team is going to be looking around wondering too. Everyone wants to win! Guys will only have loyalty as long as they really think they can win with you. How long can Henne keep guys on his side?

Henne gets no free pass from me. There were rookie QB's that perfrormed better than Henne, with less practice time and less time to learn a playbook. Face it people, there really is NO excuse for Henne this year. This shortened offseason was for everyone, not just Miami.

I feel quite the opposite. If Henne was a Parcells pick and Ireland and Sparano liked Moore while in Dallas, all the more reason for Henne's leash to be very short. They obviously tried to upgrade with Orton but weren't going to concede to his contract demands. If Sparano is truly coaching for his job, he's going to play the best guy. I also wonder if Moore's skill set is a better fit for Daboll's offense, like McCoy in Cleveland.

Too many armchair QBs around here to count - obviously Sparano sees himself with a short leash he is going to play the guy he thinks will win the same goes with Daboll

Henne 4/8 Fasano dropped pass and zero run game - run game not on Henne - Henne showed mobility in spades something he obvioulsy worked on - offensively we weren't super created we didn't use a WR end around for instance - two picks Receiver ran wrong route - confirmed and and Fasano (why they even throw his way?)

Most notable ATL had a different mentality going the game and continued to blitz each quarter - they really wanted to win funny thing is they lost - when you want to win badly and you lose that's bad

When Matt Moore signed, there was no real competition at that point becasue he does not know the playbook, terminology, or have any repoire with the WRs. The starting job was Chad Henne's by default. Henne had the opportunity to meet with Daboll (Miami was fined for it) and absorb the playbook and terminology so he could teach the team and hold player-only practices. He stepped up, became a vocal leader, and it appeared the players respected him in that role. It would be more damaging to the team at that point to bring in Moore, who does not know the players, or the playbook and annoint him as the starting QB. At that point, it was the right move to name Henne the starter outright. BUT...

I am pretty sure, if/when Henne does not show marked improvement in his play, they will not waste time to replace him with Moore, once he becomes acclimated with the system and players. Coach Sparano knows his job is on the line, and he would be a fool to not make the change if Henne falters once Moore appears comfortable in their system.

As a fan, I hope Henne can turn it around for my team's sake, but also for my team's sake, I hope the coaches don't hesitate to make that change quickly if needed.

lol Dolphins must have one of the worst bad coach bad quarterback combinations in the history of time. What did we do to deserve all this luck?
