Matt Miller just said we had the worst draft overall

We actually drafted 4 players in the PFF top 32 from the mock draft they did last year around this time after the draft.

20. HOUSTON TEXANS: DI KENNETH GRANT, MICHIGAN

The Texans aren’t missing much on their defense, but defensive tackle stands out as a potential weakness. Michigan’s Kenneth Grant is a potential solution. He earned an 80.4 overall grade last season. He and Mason Graham could be the best interior pair in college football next season.

25. DALLAS COWBOYS: QB QUINN EWERS, TEXAS

Dak Prescott is in the final year of his contract, and all indications are that he’ll play this season without an extension. While still relatively raw, Ewers has a high ceiling and posted an 85.6 passing grade this past season. Jerry Jones finds his quarterback of the future and keeps Ewers in the Lonestar State, where he was born and raised.

27. CINCINNATI BENGALS: RB OLLIE GORDON II, OKLAHOMA STATE

Cincinnati traded away Joe Mixon, leaving Zack Moss and Chase Brown in the team's running back room. The Bengals dip into what appears to be a loaded 2025 running back class and take the reigning Doak Walker Award winner. Gordon led the nation with 1,732 rushing yards this past season despite receiving only 19 carries in his first three games and running behind the nation’s 103rd-ranked run-blocking offensive

31. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS: T JONAH SAVAIINAEA, ARIZONA

Even after selecting Dominick Puni in the third round, the 49ers should keep adding to their offensive line. Savaiinaea has work to do as a run blocker, but he has intriguing tools in pass protection. Since 2022, his 80.0 pass-blocking grade on true pass sets places in the 90th percentile among offensive tackles.

Maybe Grier is still using that data?

We came out of this draft with two supposed starters out of 10 picks. We underwhelmed to say the least

The concept of starters is no longer valid in the nfl. Almost every team heavily rotates their players.

On offense you have your oline and qb. All 6 should be in place and set. Hb/wr/te are all heavily rotated positions.

Here’s the eagles snap counts. Only 6 players played over 70% of snaps. Someone like Trader may not make the 80% mark but probably gets a significant number of snaps same with Jordan Philips.

Going to have to find a corner somehow but this was a very weak corner class. Maybe the kid we picked up is good or we picked up a nice udfa I think I saw but either way wasn’t much in this draft for sure starters at corner

This to me is a requirement to be selected high. I want players that performed for multiple years at a high level so this just further validates the top 2 picks.

Maybe someone like Zabel who they may not of had ranked preseason turns out to be a great player but I want as much evidence as possible to justify the pick and those are the guys that usually have fairly high floors and great ceilings.

I was hoping Mcd would be better at personnel. He’s not.

Him and Grier both suck at it. Of course ones the gm and that’s supposed to be his job. So I’ll never understand how that guy still has a job.

He’s terrible at it. And Miamis scouts ain’t hitting on much either.
Can someone explain to me this - why is it when they show other teams draft rooms, there's boards everywhere and a **** ton of people in there helping.....but when it comes to Miami, there's like 5 people? Is it just where the camera is located and Grier doesn't want people looking at his boards, so it's not a wide angle?

Buffalo can afford to have a bad draft (if you think they did) with Josh Allen.

I saw a bunch of people in Miami's room for 1 of the picks, I can't remember which one.

Maybe it was the cleaning staff?

I have no idea but I saw my fill of McDaniel bouncing around like a toddler after every 5th round pick was made. River dancing.

That dude still doesn’t get it. Obviously

I was against bringing in Vrabel bc he didn't do it for me in Tennessee. I just never saw things that made me say "he's my guy". But....i loved their draft, bigtime. Maybe i had him all wrong.

Way better than belichicks recent drafts and vrabels titans career.

To me they solidified themselves as 2nd place finishers in the division

Helps that he had a young up and coming qb and didn’t have to bring in some tired old vet like he did with the titans for too long.

His logic is flawed. Given the number of need areas it was not really possible to address all of them early in the draft. The CB group fell away dramatically after the first few so even keeping 98 and 116 was no guarantee of finding a starting quality player.

I truly believe, and have seen with the better defenses, if you can get good pressure from your front 4 (and possibly a blitzer once in awhile), your DB'S don't need to be all-pro....they just need to be able to disrupt timing and knock receivers off their route. Perhaps that is the approach the team is attempting to take now with the addition of beef on the defensive line to go along with Chop, Phillips and Chubb 🤷‍♂️. Sure would be nice not to leave our DB's on an island forever anymore!

Serious question. If your grier and McDaniel how could you not see that you are cooked even going into the draft?

Like we are screwed. Must be arrogance I guess. Writings been on the wall.

Unless they are banking on Ross just being clueless again which I guess is very possible.

I’d much prefer this strategy of investing in the lines, offensive included, instead of putting all our draft and salary cap capital into the secondary. Think of all the times we’ve seen Mahomes get beat the past few years, all of them involved his offensive line getting destroyed and him having no time to perform his magic. Focus on the guys that will make his life a nightmare, not the guys on the back end that have to hold their coverage way longer because the quarterback has time to knit a sweater in the backfield.
