Matt Moore: Final Exam

if philbin was so conviced that moore was a good starter the why even have flynn and smith in for a visit.
ireland didnt feel that flynn was worth the money he wanted and smith wanted to return to sf, if manning would have signed there then we would have signed smith. we were trying to upgrade the pos it just didnt work out, hell we even signed garred not to backup moore but to compete with him.

and in case you didnt know philbin hasnt even seen moore throw a pass in his system, he doesnt know what he has in moore yet. you cant believe philbin likes moore when he hasnt even seen him practice.

If you think that IRELAND's input mattered as to FLYNN, then you really are out of it. The reports are out there. PHILBIN (and NOT someone else) didn't think that FLYNN could beat out MOORE in a fair competition.

PHILBIN also has already said that he likes MOORE's leadership, and his ability to move the team. Deal with it!

As to GARRARD, he's d**k. The usual platitudes won't change that. And w/a bad back, no less. Anything is possible I guess, but i/m/o, if you REALLY think that GARRARD can be anything but MIAMI's back-up QB, you probably are also into Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy.

ireland had a predetermined value on flynn, and his asking price was higher than what ireland believed his worth was. ireland wasnt going all out for a qb that he wasnt sure of.

why would they bring in flynn if they thought that moore would beat him out, why bother. the fact is if the numbers would have worked then flynn would be our starter going into camp.

philbin also said that moore wasnt his typical qb.
maybe thats why moore will be battling garred for the job in camp. if he truely liked moore then why hasnt anyone came out and named him the starter. why even bring in garred and lie to him

this team has looked at every qb out there you dont do that if your not desperate.

To act like garrard beating out Moore is akin to believing in easter bunny is quite a stretch esp since he has been an effective starter in the league for years , unlike Moore who has never held a job for a full season. Not saying it will happen but its pretty damn possible

Drew Brees was not very good for a while and then became elite. Kurt Warner was not even drafted and was basically pulled from bagging groceries and then became elite. People in NY were calling for Eli's head for a while until he won a superbowl. Happens more than you think man. Lets not forgot that Aaron Rodgers was a back up for years. I'd say he turned out ok.

Uh huh...Kurt Warner did not start over the course of 4 seasons before he became elite. He was elite as soon as he was given a chance. The grocery story is nice, but he developed his skills playing in the Arena Football League. Drew Brees was elite by his 4th year. Aaron Rodgers proved himself as soon as he got to start. Still don't know if I would put Eli as being elite, way too many interceptions.

It doesn't happen more than I think. You are confusing the rare exception with being a common occurrence. So much so that you still haven't identified a QB that had been in the NFL for 5 years, had starts in 4 of those years and then became elite.

You do realize Moore DIDN'T beat a team that ended the season with a winning record

BEFORE WE CROWN HIM ELITE LETS SEE IF HE CAN BEAT A GOOD TEAM

Did Matt Moore not beat a good team or did the Dolphin not beat a good team? Matt Moore had a year of very good stats, he was let down by the rest of the team.

guys upside is average...always has been always will be...stop thinking you got a rich gannon here...

Its no secret that Matt Moore is leaps and bounds better than Henne. Better mobility, better pocket presence, much better accuracy, and he actually tries to push the ball downfield which was something Henne never tried doing. Henne is no better than a 7-9 QB and with that said, IMO with all things being equal, Moore can be a solid 10-6 QB. Thats not mediocrity.

and yet we are paying him more money than matt moore.... oh look reindeer.....

Guess what? Carolina panthers were having this same conversation after Moore won 5 games in a row a few years back. After all that talk they ended up drafting Cam newton after having the worst record in the league. I guess drafting a QB in the first round was better then keeping you know who and drafting the best LT or whatever.

here an article that has a title that says dolphins don't think flynn is a franchise qb. but nobody is quoted as saying so...

unless you want play the angle we offered him $4mil a year, and seattle is paying him double that a year....

but again... no philbin saying he doesn't think flynn can beat out moore....

i'll keep looking.

I don't care how good Moore gets as long as we reach the Superbowl.

Run of the mill player, the type Jeff Ireland specializes in. Considerably more likely to regress than bloom.

I say that as someone who believes everything tends to drift back to the beginning. Several posts ago Drew Brees, Eli Manning and Aaron Rodgers were touted as quarterbacks who overcame rocky starts. Yeah, and they have a lot more in common with Mark Sanchez than Matt Moore. Sanchez as a premium first round pick is considerably more likely than journeyman Matt Moore to turn into something special.

If you don't understand that you don't need to be speculating on anything. Any subjective slob can overreact to current form. It's the same mindset that insisted Tiger Woods would never win again.

I don't think many people said Woods would never win again, I think they said he would never win as prolifically as he did early in his career and the criticism is fair considering there was never a 4 year span where he won less than 3 Majors and Multiple tournaments and in the last 4 years what has he managed 2 PGA wins and now he is back. Nah, I'll wait until he wins 2 majors before I proclaim his ascendance to Tiger of old..................and the same can be said for Moore, he is a nice roster QB, provides you depth to take a few shots at finding a guy like Bress, Rogers or Manning but he isn't going to be them, nor is the other you QB you mentioned (arguing over someone who has 5% in common with a certain list verse 3% is wasteful).

If Ireland *****-foots around and wastes another year not taking a QB it will just seal the deal in my assertion that he is the third strike in the last three GM's to run the Dolphins.
