The most popular player on the team when your team does not have Brady or Manning is the backup QB. Always has been and always will be. The promise of something new and different has GOT to be better than the same guy you keep running out there over and over again. However, lets remember who Matt Moore is. As they say in baseball, a player will always play to the back of his card ie stats. Here is Matt Moore in 2010 given a legit chance to start:

CMPATTYDSCMP%AVGTDLNGINTFUMRAT2010 Regular Season7914385755.25.9953910455.6

With a better Oline, better RBs, Better TEs, and Stevie Smith at WR. I get they were a bad team, but their offensive talent was ehhh pretty close to ours.

Now is this a Henne support thread you may be asking yourself....let me quickly fix that thought...Hell No! But the reality is he is a better QB than Moore, and preseason against backups or flashing at practice does not change that. Unless the FO is able to go get Orton for a REASONABLE PRICE, the play here is to wait until next years draft and see what Henne can put together once and for all good or bad. Paying a high pick for another teams second option hasnt quite worked for us before.........

Anyways back to your clammoring for Moore.

at last, the voice of reason. Wait until John Beck wins a game, all these anti-Henne guys will clamor for us to trade for him. LOL!

Very true. Remember the Green Bay fan that was on here doubting Aaron Rodgers as a starting QB for the Packers? That was some classic stuff.

The Matt Moore love stems more from the Henne hate . . . most people just want Sparano, Ireland and Henne out of the picture and it will continue to be that way until either A. The Dolphins/Henne starting winning or B. They are all gone.

You aren't going to be able to convince anybody one way or the other.

henne fluffer thread . . . no one is saying matt moore is great . . . we are simply saying Henne CANNOT get it done and he is still showing the same traits. . so why not try something new?

Morre sucks, Henne sucks...we are still looking for a franchise QB...its just that simple. That is why people keep faling in love with the backup. Because we still dont have a REAL ****ING STARTER.

Change for the sake of change...very good.

You know the cliche the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence? Well I got another one, the grass dies on both sides of the fence.

The panthers sucked last season and they tanked the season to get cam newton. In 2009 moore played well.

Nice try

the Panthers had better TEs than us? I know people hate Fasano, but since when are Jeff King and Dante Rosario better than him?

I'd give you OL if Otah (who didn't play a game last year), and Wharton (who only played in 9) were healthy, but without them they are not a better OL.

and no their offensive talent is not that close to ours. Outside of Smith and their RBs, nobody from the 2010 Panthers skills position players are upgrades over what we have.

Throw stats out because we all know it takes experience to develop (as many times as I have heard that in here). With the stats gone, who has Moore intangibles? Moore pocket awareness? Moore stepping up in the pocket? Moore fluid movement? Moore better feet? Moore better accuracy?

I"m still in Henne's corner, although it's feeling all the more claustrophic... but let's not be so quick to throw Moore overboard either since the stats you mentioned reflected him coming back from an injury. More revealing IMO is that in 09 his 4wins out of 5 starts and +90QBR constituted 50% of Carolina's total victories, and included wins over deep into the playoff bound Saints and Brees, and Vikings with Favre at his best. He also beat the Giants D. Those were some pretty formidable teams so perhaps you shouldn't form fit his upside over that particular season with the agenda of minimizing potential upside all that quickly either please.

Well we all know that Henne blows chunks. I say lets find out if Moore is better. Even if Moore is worse we lost out on nothing because Henne would not have lead us to the playoffs anyways.

Really? No one knew who Cam Newton was until half way through the college season last year, and the Panthers decided to take him the night before the draft.......Nice Try

Nah Cam was getting mad pub from his first game at Auburn, which was a week before the NFL season started. He was also named SEC player of the week.

But yea, they didn't tank the season for Newton though, they just weren't very good.

Dante Rasario is better than Fasano. What other skill positions are there on Offense: QB, RB, TE, WR.....ok so we got em beat at QB for this threads sake....and 2 our of 3 WRs? Ok welp your right they were far worse than us on O.
