Some decent insight from Matt Moore in this Palm Beach Post article....

Gase on Moore....
“Clyde kept coming back to it and so did Bo, as far as there’s not a lot of guys that can come
into that role and then if he goes into the game, I think he has a winning record as a quarterback,” Gase said. “I don’t know how many backup quarterbacks you can actually say that of.”

Gase and Tannehill...
Moore said Tannehill is “constantly working” to improve.

“He works harder than anybody,” Moore said. “Just sitting with Gase, his confidence to me is off the charts. The footwork stuff that we’re doing is translating — moving in the pocket, you mix that with accuracy — I think that’s kind of the key to what we’ve been doing this camp along with learning a new offense. (Tannehill) physically, footwork, pocket movement and accuracy is really good right now.”

We have been discussing the accuracy thing around here. Nice to hear about pocket movement work as well.

On Doughty....
He obviously threw for a million yards in college,” Moore said. “So it’ll be interesting to see how that translates to the NFL. He’s fun to have in the room. He has a little bit of personality to him which is always fun. I like it. But he comes out here, throws good balls and works hard. He’s a good kid.”

Yea, I mentioned it just now on the '3 keys to success' thread, that I hope to see a little more escaping the pocket

WOW 4 posts deep and there's no, "Matt Moore will be cut" replies yet. Impressive for Finheaven!

Gase on Moore....

:snack:
he definitely does as a starter for us. Not for his career I don't think. That one season where we were dreadful under Henne I think he went 6-4 and then I believe he gets the "W" for the game vs the Jets when Tanny left in Q1 w a tweaked knee. I don't think we were winning when T-Hill went out and Moore had a really good game. Too lazy to look up but I have him at 7-4 as our starter.

Good teammate and good backup. Point Gase is making I think is that he can come in and help win some games if pressed into service. I don't think he could carry us for a long stretch if something really bad happened to Tanny but a 2 or 3 game stretch I think we'd be alright. Moore's biggest issue is an inability to play consistently well over time IMO.

Tried to find Moore's record with Carolina, but wasn't as easy as I'd hoped and dont have the time. :p

His teams are 13-12 when he was the starter.

thanks Daytona. I checked out the link and see he's 6-6 with us as a starter and 7-6 w Carolina previously.

Question (for anyone) - in 2012 he came in relief when Tannehill was hurt early in Q1 and led team to a W. Unlike baseball, I have no idea how the QB is allocated a win in a situation like this. Does the win go to the guy who started the game, the guy who finished it, is there no QB win awarded? Not trying to goose up Moore's W/L, just realized i truly don't know how this works!

His record really doesnt matter since no team has wanted him as a starter since

No harm in having a conversation. Not sure why you have to re-act to every conversation in this manner.

there is no other way to react to a statement about Matt Moore's quite irrelevant record as a former starter.

Wins are recorded to the starter, not like in baseball. So while Tannehill was crapping the bed early (coming off a bye when we started to be talked as a playoff contender) he still gets credit for a W.
