Matt Moore is he our Earl Morrall or what?

Moore looked good but he also had the luxury of not having McCoy in his face every play.

Preseason...against 2's and 3's...yeah, he is the "second-coming"...LOL

There is a tremendous drop off between Tampa's ones and twos. Watch the replay.

Earl Morrall pretty much led the team to the greatest team achievement in NFL history.

He's a solid backup, though, that is certain.

Moore is more like our Scott Mitchell. Good enough to win some games, but not good enough to be a every week starting QB at this point in his career.
He is a team guy and a perfect back up to RT. non threatening of Rt's status and a good sport.

I agree as well, but it's not as if he's some inexperienced young player, he's played the same way in real NFL games like when he killed Buffalo (2x), KC, and played very well in other games like week 17 against the Jets and his solid performance against them two years ago. Although I've seen it in jest, I don't see anyone annointing him a starter over a Tannehill who has also played well. We just love what he brings to the table with his decisiveness, vision, touch, and knack for making plays like the Matthews TD, and those of us who see pretty clearly that he isn't "terrible" like so many here foolishly claim are glad he performed like he has many times before in a Dolphins uniform to show why he could be a valuable asset to this team if need be.

There is not a single QB in the league not starting and not drafted rd 1 this year that I would rather see coming in for Tannehill if need be than Matt Moore. He joins a very limited group of post-Marino passers in Dolphins uniforms that could legitimately make big plays with his arm and yet still run an offense (no offense Sage Rosenfels, who was awesome in relief).

Agreed. I like Moore as a true backup -- the guy you put in if the starter gets hurt -- but by every account he's a substandard practice player. That's not nothing... it hurts the backup receivers and defensive players, but to me the ability to actually play in the games is worth more, even if in a perfect scenario it's not an ability you'll ever have to rely on. Play the percentages. These guys get hurt. I'll admit this is a better trade off if you're actually dealing with a contender, but to me it's still the right strategy, and generally speaking if you apply the right strategy overall you'll get the right results overall, even if it certain moves might seem baffling in the short term.

In any case, comparing him to Earl Morrall does a great disservice to Morrall. Dolphins fans remember Earl the Pearl as a backup but almost no one seems to remember that this was a guy who had an NFL MVP on his resume before he arrived. That has sort of been forgotten thanks to his performance in the Super Bowl the year he won it (the infamous loss to the Jets, where Morrall played abysmally), but still. The Dolphins have only had one NFL MVP in our history -- Dan Marino in 1984. It's a great honor and representative of the highest level of achievement.

Moore doesn't rise to that level. Not at all. Don't get me wrong, I like Moore. But let's all keep our brains in our heads.

Not a fan of him as a starter, but solid back up and and one hell of a classy guy! True pro!

Ya, ok, except ......

"Really good drive," coach Joe Philbin said. "(Moore) threw the ball very well, he has been throwing the ball well in camp and he threw it well there. He made a real nice play and Rishard made a heck of a job keeping both feet in there on a tight throw."
