When Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill went down, some thought Miami’s playoff hopes went down with him. Matt Moore did not agree.

Moore, the Dolphins backup who got his first start in five years on Saturday against the Jets, turned in an excellent performance and has been named the AFC offensive player of the week.

In a 34-13 win over the Jets, Moore completed 12 of 18 passes for 236 yards, with four touchdowns and one interception. Moore, who also played well in helping the Dolphins beat the Cardinals after Tannehill went down in Week 14, is showing that the Dolphins can still compete for a playoff berth even without their starting quarterback.

Image in August that someone told you that in week 15 "Matt Moore named AFC offensive player of the week". How would think our season was going?

Good Job Matt.

Interesting to note that Moore's last 4 starts have all been against AFC East opponents with the only loss coming in New England. In those 4 games he has 10 TD's and 4 Interceptions and a YPA of 8.7 and a passer rating of 102.9 One of those games includes our last win in Buffalo. Hope he can keep it up.

And he played 3+ quarters in the Jets game in 2012, @ the Jets, where we won 30-9. And the New England game was a 24-27 loss . . . @ New England, in December. A New England team that went to the Super Bowl.

Maybe he is the kryptonite for those AFC East teams we have struggled with the last few years.

Actually Tannehill has played well in his last 4 AFC East starts also going 3-1 and throwing 6 TD's and 2 Interceptions. It was before that we had the issues.

Ryan and the Dolphins have struggled in late season AFC East games, specifically on the road . . . but we did pull out that week 17 game at home last year vs. the Pats.

This year he was on a path to getting rid of those demons for sure.

Don't remind me about that game. I had a large money line bet on the Patriots. While I didn't mind losing the money for the chance to keep NE out of Super Bowl I kicked my self for not making bet on the Dolphins. Would have been a huge $$$ win.

I would have thought we failed forward fast.
