I watched the game on Sunday ticket and it was nice to hear the commentators say what Saban had to say about him. It was something to the effect of- (we really feel this kid is going to be special in the future when he gets even more playing time, cause every time he is in there he is making plays.) he had two plays where he literally threw there offensive lineman to the ground like a little boy and the one he stripped gotta love it. If he can become what some of us thought he could be that would be great huh?

I was working Draft day of last year and I jokingly said to my buddy that the next pick would be Matt Roth (I'm from Iowa and obviously, we are Hawkeyes through and through)...when they announced the selection I flipped lol. Crazy crazy. I knew he'd produce, of all of the guys that go late I knew this one was going to give his all, he's a team player all the way. Go Hawkeyes. :rawk:

I remember in the beginning of the season that Kevin Carter said that Matt Roth will be one of the reason he retires lol... lets hope so, but not anytime soon ;-)

LOL!

ps: Matt Roth plays DE or DT? I remember he's a DE but I'm sure I saw him playing DT

Roth forced the fumble lined up at DT. He plays mostly DT, but will get snaps from time to time at DT.

You mean this?
"Roth forced the fumble lined up at DT. He plays mostly DE, but will get snaps from time to time at DT"

The offensive lineman that Matt threw to the ground? That player he threw to the ground was none other than all pro guard Steve Hutchinson (sp). In reality it was Roth who started the defensive scoring when he caused the fumble that was returned by Bell for the touchdown as well.

Ya that.

Matt Roth was a second-round pick.

I like Matt but anyone notice that they've been playing his 260 lbs at DT??? Why? Can't he rush the passer like a DE is supposed to? Just curious for those who know anything about football.

For the record, Matt Roth is NOT 260 pounds. He weighed 285 in training camp. He added about 15 pounds of muscle since last season. Matt is 6'3 1/2" and is a pretty strong guy. Look at how he bulled Steve Hutchinson back on that play Roth made.
